CIS/MDM PROJECT OVERVIEW

With full support of the Southern Company Management Council, the electric operating companies recently approved a four-year business initiative leveraging technology to help the electric operating companies realize the vision for a modernized, efficient digital customer experience to deeply engage with our customers and provide a more personalized experience. The initiative will implement new Customer Information (CIS) and Meter Data Management (MDM) systems, along with an advanced analytics platform, enhanced customer engagement tools for our customers and a modern agent desktop. The program will impact all 4.2 million electric customers across all our customer engagement channels (Voice Response Unit, web portals, mobile app, etc.) and includes billing over $52 billion annually for Southern Company. This initiative is focused on the electric operating companies. The project team will consist of an estimated 450 internal and external resources spread across five workstreams.

Positions within the CIS Program will be filled based the on requirements of the job along with taking into consideration the needs of the business and overall project scope.

While these roles are expected to be hybrid work, approximately 25% travel is anticipated and for this reason, it is preferred that resources are located within the electric service territory; location for this position is flexible between Atlanta, Birmingham, or Gulfport and include the corporate HQs in other locations.

The successful candidate will remain an employee of the operating company while reporting to the CIS/MDM Project Team and may report to a SCS or operating company leader for delivery.

JOB SUMMARY – Application Analyst –Technology

Two Application Analyst (Technology) positions will be part of the Customer Experience (CX) workstream, responsible for providing development of the technical requirements and support to Oracle Service Cloud and/or Oracle Sales Cloud enterprise applications across all operating companies. Position responsibilities include all aspects of production support, solution delivery, and managing customer relationships. The position will work with a variety of organizations which will require excellent interpersonal, communication, customer service, time management, planning, and organizational skills. Strong analysis and problem-solving skills are critical. In addition, this position is responsible for the strategy, roadmap, planning, architecture, development and sustainment of applications, integrations, and business processes, in support of multiple business units using the Oracle CX enterprise platforms. This position will work with Business Stakeholders, Developers, DBAs, Analysts and other Architects to design, build, and maintain marketing and sales platforms required to support business processes and business applications and integrations. In addition, this position will lead and coordinate technical development activities for integrations.

The incumbent is expected to be highly knowledgeable and experienced with modern data and integration architecture – including cloud solutions and agile implementation deployment. The position requires leadership skills necessary to coordinate and direct developers and other analysts in day-to-day operations to achieve the desired work efforts. The incumbent will participate and provide technical leadership in all states of a data solution life cycle.

The position responsibilities will focus on deployment, enhancement, and ongoing support for Oracle Service/Sales Cloud (primarily) with expectations to further support Oracle Marketing Cloud (Eloqua) and related Oracle CX applications. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience with the Oracle CX application platform and/or the aptitude to quickly obtain necessary knowledge and skills to be effective.

Experience/Knowledge/Skills:

  • Knowledge of and experience with the Oracle CX platform including Service Cloud and Sales Cloud

  • Experience with marketing automation software, Oracle Eloqua

  • Experience with development projects leveraging agile development methodologies preferred

  • Experience with or foundational understanding of Java application development to support troubleshooting and solution design

  • Strong analytical skills with ability to elicit and efficiently document business rules

  • Excellent root cause analysis and problem-solving skills

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop, adapt and carry out product implementation plan from beginning to end, supporting and championing the vision desired for the completed product.

  • Work closely with operating company business units to ensure both common and specific business rules are identified and integrated into product design and development.

  • Work directly with agile product and development teams during design and development to ensure product is meeting specifications.

  • Work directly with agile product team to ensure the user experience and interface is considered and implemented during design and build and the integrity of the vision of the end product is maintained and enhanced throughout.

  • Make daily decisions on design and development ensuring efficiency and quality are maintained, while also meeting business rule requirements and focusing on exceptional user experience.

  • Work with the agile development team to ensure appropriate tests are completed during the development process and that issues are quickly remediated to minimize defects during the user acceptance testing by the operating companies.

  • Be a resource for and work effectively as a communication support with the product manager from the business that is tasked with the development of documentation of the delivered product to training and other appropriate groups.

  • Manage business expectations, bring issues to business’ attention proactively; offer solutions.

  • Be a primary resource for the business and portfolio teams throughout User Acceptance testing, reporting and remediation.

  • Ensure and assist in achieving and meeting deadlines and schedules.
