Position Summary

This is an expert level of a Program Manager. At this level, they are very knowledgeable of the Lighting Industry. They are very well seasoned lighting experts and well versed on lighting design and all technical aspects of our lighting products. At this level they have great business relationships with high level clients, including developers and city officials. They are also working very closely with internal stake holders, including LAM's and CRM's and providing guidance to them as well, on all matters related to lighting. They have also built a great reputation among their peers, due to their knowledge and influence not only with customers but also with other groups among the organization. This position requires a customer-facing, team-oriented individual who has a high degree of technical and business expertise to be effectively utilized to help explain the Program and how it can fit customers' needs. This position is also responsible for coordinating and leading internal and external resources to provide the necessary support for deployment of the Program. Working knowledge of lighting rates, tariffs, contracts, proposals. Working knowledge of electrical distribution systems and outdoor lighting. A good understanding of lighting design. This position typically is jurisdictionally focused but can be assigned enterprise tasks or teams.

Responsibilities

The Outdoor Lighting Program Manager provides consultation regarding Duke's Outdoor Lighting Program to governmental, commercial, institutional, and industrial customers. This position requires a customer-facing, team-oriented individual who has a high degree of technical and business expertise to be effectively utilized to help explain the Program and how it can fit customers' needs. This position is also responsible for coordinating and leading internal and external resources to provide the necessary support for deployment of the Program. This position will report to the Manager - Outdoor Lighting Program and will engage with Large Account Management, Community Relations, Marketing, Customer Delivery Lighting, all the while promoting the Program and assisting governmental, commercial, institutional, and industrial customers to subscribe to the Program. ​​​​​​​

Required/Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Finance, Engineering, Marketing or Business

  • 2 years related work experience

  • In lieu of Bachelors degree(s) AND 2 year(s) related work experience listed above, High School/GED AND 9 year(s) related work experience

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering or Business Administration

  • In addition to desired degree, 6 years related work experience

  • Lighting Certified Professional (LC)

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software tools.

  • Proven project management skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to learn new systems.

  • Experience successfully working in a team environment to achieve shared goals.

  • Experience working in utility regulatory environment

  • Comprehensive financial and business acumen

  • Analytics capability/ proven ability to analyze market and financial data and research to develop successful customer and product strategies and plans, e.g., market research, market strategy, competitive intelligence, product management, Project development

  • Facility management, product management, program management, energy management, project management or process management experience.

  • Demonstrated experience in change management, process integration and implementation and supervisory or management experience

  • Business operation experience

  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills including communications skills, presentation skills, conflict resolution and management skills, excellent leadership skills and good facilitation skills at all levels, both internally and externally to Duke Energy

Working Conditions

  • Hybrid Mobility Classification – Work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period. However, hybrid employees should live within a reasonable daily commute to a Duke Energy facility.

  • Normal office environment with some travel, including overnight travel and site visits.

  • Long periods of sitting and extended use of computer and telephone/cell phone or other PDA device.

  • Some positions may be on call 24/7 as normal work dictates; all positions are on call 24/7 during storm
