APS has opportunities in the Pre-Apprentice Lineman program for candidates pursuing the Lineman Apprenticeship. The Pre-Apprentice will assist Journeymen Linemen with various tasks including rigging, operate hydraulic tools, operate boom truck & forklift, run parts, assist on the ground, drive bucket trucks, install poles, trenches, working in confined spaces and etc. They will rotate to various areas within the organization to gain experience in their field.

To be considered, you must meet or exceed the following qualifications:
Must be eighteen (18) years of age.
Must possess a High School diploma or G.E.D. prior to the application closing.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Must have a valid Manual Transmission Class “A” Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). No mechanical restrictions i.e., airbrakes (Must have taken CDL test in a vehicle with a manual transmission and air brakes).
Successfully pass the Edison Electrical Institute (EEI) CAST Aptitude Test.
Must be physically qualified to do the job and display the aptitude, attitude and adaptability necessary for the trade.
This position requires working with aerial equipment, which has weight restrictions of 300 lbs or less
Live or have lived within 45 minutes of the Globe-Miami office located at 5994 Electric Dr Globe, AZ 85501
Upon completion of the Lineman Apprentice Program, this position will have a retention requirement to remain in the Globe area for a pre-determined length of time.
Selected candidates who have passed the minimum qualifications will be subject to the following requirements:
Must successfully pass the CAST test.
Must meet the requirements of the essential job functions assessment prior to participating in any physical field evaluation.
Must successfully pass a physical field evaluation.
Must successfully complete an oral interview.

Applicants who have prior utility experience should include job function and duties on resume.

Applicants who have graduated from an accredited electrical training program are encouraged to include current enrollment transcripts or certificate.

If selected as a Pre-Apprentice Lineman, you will need to travel to the Metro (Phoenix metro area) or State Region (regional locations throughout the state of Arizona) areas.
Selection process includes CAST test, field evaluation and oral interview.
Successful candidates must live reasonable distance (45 minutes) from headquarters.
Reasonable and necessary overtime is required.
Work under the terms and conditions of the Pre-Apprenticeship Agreement.

A written [paper and pencil] test will be administered.
A test using a computer with keyboard will be administered.
A hands-on skills test will be administered.
