Job Description

Core Responsibilities

• Applicants for this posting must possess before hiring: Certifications in Engine Repair, Electrical and Brakes (or equivalent industry and/or major manufacturer's certifications). Successful candidates must also be able to diagnose and perform maintenance and repairs on all types of company vehicles including cars, vans and trucks and equipment and must have the knowledge and hands-on experience in repairing systems such as drive trains, hydraulics and coolant. These candidates must also be able to obtain applicable certificates of fitness from the NYC Fire Department and a New York State light duty Inspector's License (with a heavy duty and diesel emissions) within 6 months.

• If you accept a job offer in association with this posting, you may be assigned to any of the operating areas of the Transportation Operations Department (I.E. Brooklyn, Bronx, Queens, Manhattan, or Westchester.)

Required Education/Experience

• High School Diploma/GED and 2 years of relevant work experience or a relevant automotive certificate from a post-secondary vocational school or

• Associate's Degree An Associate's Degree in Auto Mechanics, Automotive Technology, or a related field

Preferred Education/Experience

• CDL or able to obtain within 12 months

• Valid NYS light duty inspectors license with a heavy duty and diesel emissions

Licenses & Certifications

• Driver's License Required

• Other: Certificate of Fitness from FDNY 180 Days Required

• Other: NYS DMV Inspectors License 180 Days Required

Physical Demands

• Must perform heavy manual labor; i.e. pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 50 pounds

• Must work in, under, and on top of all types of company vehicles/equipment

• Must be approved and able to wear either a full- or half-face respirator without facial hair or other condition that may interfere with the seal, in accordance with OSHA regulations.

• Must walk, stand, lift, climb, bend, kneel, stoop, and/or reach
