This role is responsible for specifying technical and quality requirements to support acceptance of electrical and I&C materials and services that support nuclear plant operations. This is a diverse position that is intended to blend technical/analytical skills, procurement strategies, quality assurance principles, and quality inspection with support engineering tasks. The primary duties and responsibilities include:
Perform general technical and quality assurance duties in support of nuclear procurements as defined in EPRI NP-6629 Guidelines for the Procurement and Receipt of Items for Nuclear Power Plants
Conduct surveillances and inspections activities at vendor’s facilities in support of manufacturing processes to ensure compliance with nuclear quality assurance requirements and industry standards
Performs inspections, testing, and documentation reviews including analysis of test results and operation of test equipment in support of receipt inspection activities
Strategic analysis of vendor performance and quality programs, including performing vendor quality assurance audits and surveys as a technical specialist
Perform procurement engineering support activities including evaluation, research, and analysis of procurement requirements of materials and services
Distinguished from the Technical Specialist II by the increased responsibility in the application of technical or engineering skills and knowledge
The incumbent is capable of completing routine assignments and tasks with limited supervision and direction
This may include analyzing and evaluating systems, equipment, process improvements, and programs for assurance that they are modified, operated, and maintained in accordance with Company policy and procedure and regulatory requirements
Must be available to travel domestically and internationally as required for application of duties
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
- 5+ years related experience
Skills, Abilities & Experience:
In-depth knowledge of operation, maintenance and technical design applications
In-depth knowledge of design and operation of complex systems and equipment which may be indicated by advanced certification of licenses
In-depth knowledge of engineering theories and principles
In-depth knowledge of industry codes, government regulations and company policy and practices
Equally effective working independently or in a team environment
Strong oral and written communication skills to include skill in technical writing
Working knowledge in the operation and application of personal computers and software programs
Excellent organization and project management, skilled in evaluation techniques
Ability to perform root cause analysis to determine the most probable cause of problems and undesired events
Strong analytical and abstract thinking problem solving skills, ability to process information quickly
Applicant will be required to enter into training program and obtain certification as a ASME NQA-1 Level II Quality Inspector
