Dominion Energy at the Innsbrook Technical Center in Glen Allen, VA is currently seeking Engineering Technical Specialists at the mid and senior levels. The position will be filled at the level commensurate with the successful candidate's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Probabilistic Risk Assessment (PRA) is part of the Nuclear Safety Engineering (NSE) organization in the Nuclear Engineering and Fuel (NEF) department. PRA has responsibility for developing, maintaining, and applying probabilistic models to support Dominion Energy’s nuclear plants in Virginia, Connecticut, and South Carolina. The PRA models are designed to evaluate plant response in the event of an accident at a nuclear power station. They take into account the design of plant systems and the responses of plant operators to potential accidents in order to evaluate the importance of systems and components to plant risk. Risk insights are used to improve safety and efficiency of plant operations and maintenance.
PRA Modeling - Use the EPRI IRT PRA software to modify PRA model files in accordance with the ASME/ANS PRA Standard
PRA Supporting Analysis - Perform supporting analyses involving component failure rates, initiating event frequencies, thermal-hydraulic transients, and other related topics to support PRA modeling
PRA Applications - Perform analysis using the PRA models to support regulatory and elective risk-informed programs and applications
Fire PRA Development - Support the development and refinement of new Fire PRA models
PRA Documentation - Document model changes, supporting analyses, and PRA applications to efficiently and effectively establish model bases
PRA Project Management - Lead and manage PRA projects that involve multiple engineers and interface with multiple departments
PRA Software Testing - Perform testing and validation of new code versions and new software packages used to perform PRA
Organizational Interface - Interface with Engineering, Operations, Maintenance and Planning, IT, and other departments when working on projects that involve cooperation of several disciplines

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
Engineering Technical Specialist II: Minimum 3 years of relevant engineering experience (PRA, nuclear plant engineering, and/or nuclear plant operations is preferred)
Engineering Technical Specialist III: Minimum 5 years of relevant engineering experience (PRA, nuclear plant engineering, and/or nuclear plant operations is preferred)
Prior Operations or Shift Technical Advisor experience is a plus
Prior experience in Fire PRA, NFPA 805, Seismic PRA, 10 CFR 50.69, and/or Risk-Informed Technical Specifications are a plus.
Knowledge of fundamental nuclear, mechanical, and electrical theory and engineering principles.
Knowledge of design, systems, structures, components, and operation of pressurized water reactors.
Demonstrated ability to define problems, collect information, evaluate data, draw valid conclusions, and develop solutions
Professional orientation and effective interpersonal skills; effective communication skills in both written and oral forms; ability to work in teams or independently under own initiative
Ability to effectively operate a personal computer and standard Microsoft applications.
Note: A partial year of work experience of 6 months or greater will count as one year toward the required years of experience. A Master's degree will count as one year toward the required years of experience.
Military service members and veterans with ranks from E-3, W1, or O1, plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience are encouraged to apply.
In order to be a titled Engineering Technical Specialist, you must meet one of the following criteria:
4-year Engineering Technology degree or 4-year degree in Engineering (not ABET-accredited); or
4-year degree in Physics, Math, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Engineering or other technical related discipline; or
4-year non-technical degree and post-graduate degree in Engineering Technology or Engineering (not ABET-accredited); or
Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred degree
