We offer a hybrid 3-2 work schedule (three days in the office, two days of teleworking) to accommodate the need for flexibility.

Job Summary

This role will be responsible for the review and development of design engineering packages for all company and contract resources required to support EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) substation projects. EPC projects require extensive contractor interface and coordination responsibilities. The successful candidate will help ensure project results meet requirements and provides timely and accurate information and status updates to management and internal and external customers.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Assist project management teams and EPC teams for the development of the scope of work and design requirements for substation engineering projects.

• Assist EPC partners by answering questions related to design packages and providing technical guidance on design and/or protection schemes.

• Coordinates with the turnover of the new substation facilities to the Operations and Maintenance Team(s) to enable a seamless transition into commercial operations.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

The knowledge, skills, abilities and experience required:

Engineer II -3+ years of related engineering experience (Experience in Substation Physical Engineering, Substation P&C Engineering is preferred ).

Engineer III - 5+ years of related engineering experience (Experience in Substation Physical Engineering, Substation P&C Engineering is preferred).

For the Titled Engineer roles: Requires developmental experience in a professional engineering position.

Engineering Technical Specialist II - 3+ years of relevant work experience in a technical role with a preferred Bachelor’s Degree (Or 5 years of relevant work experience in a technical role with an Associate Degree)

Engineering Technical Specialist III - 5+ years of relevant work experience in a technical role with a preferred Bachelor’s Degree (Or 7 years of relevant work experience in a technical role with an Associate Degree)

  • Knowledge and application of engineering theories and principles, concepts, and fundamentals;

  • Competency in applying engineering principles, fundamental concepts, practices and procedures requiring some evaluation, originality and/or ingenuity to achieve project objectives;

  • Understands and can apply knowledge of configuration management;

  • Ability to perform engineering calculations using applicable software programs (e.g. Matlab, Excel, etc.);

  • Planning, organizational and project management skills;

  • Ability to develop and exercise leadership skills;

  • Effective decision making skills;

  • Effective oral and written communication skills (includes technical writing);

  • Ability to think analytically and solve complex problems;

  • Ability to interpret codes, regulations and practices;

  • Equally effective working independently or in a team environment;

  • Ability to process information quickly and effectively manage multiple tasks.

  • Storm Duty responsibilities may be required

Education Requirements

Education Level for Engineer II and Engineer III : Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required.

Required Engineering Criteria:

For placement of a candidate in the Engineer job series, the following criteria must be met:

  • Possess a 4-year Engineering degree from an ABET accredited Engineering program based on the year that the Engineering program was accredited by ABET, or

  • Possess a 4-year Engineering degree from an institution outside of the U.S. which is accredited through the country's own Engineering accrediting body under the Washington Accord as a full signatory, and is a degree that was recognized by the country's accrediting body on or after the date that full signatory status was achieved, or

  • Possess a 4-year degree in Engineering (non-ABET accredited), Physics, Chemistry, Math or Engineering Technology and a post-graduate Engineering degree from an institution where the undergraduate degree in the same Engineering discipline is ABET-accredited based on the year the Engineering program was accredited by ABET, or

  • Holds or has previously held a valid U.S. Professional Engineer license

Education Level for ETS II and ETS III: Preferred Bachelor degree's

In order to be a titled Engineering Technical Specialist, you must meet one of the following criteria:

  • 4-year Engineering Technology degree or 4-year degree in Engineering (not ABET-accredited); or

  • 4-year degree in Physics, Math, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Engineering or other technical related discipline; or

  • 4-year non-technical degree and post-graduate degree in Engineering Technology or Engineering (not ABET-accredited); or

  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of preferred degree
