Summary

As a Data Analyst at Oncor, you will use data to acquire information about specific topics or business use cases within Oncor. The position must obtain the related data, interpret the data to acquire the requested information about the specific topic, and present the results through ad-hoc reporting or published reports. The data used to support the day-to-day analysis includes power consumption, outage event, asset health, customer, regulatory and other internal and external data which are maintained in various documents, relational databases, and time-series databases. The acquired information will be used for informative, predictive and prescriptive reporting to support maintenance activities, system performance and other activities originating from various departments within Oncor.

The Data Analyst position will participate in analytics projects that requires strong knowledge of data visualization tools and techniques, business processes, source system data, SQL queries, and business intelligence applications.

This opportunity is a hybrid position reporting in office at least 3 days a week at 777 Main Fort Worth, Texas.

Data Analyst Position

Key Roles & Responsibilities

  • Designs complex reports to monitor and analyze assets, events, communications, energy usage, customer information, and other related data.

  • Gathers, extracts, manipulate, analyze, and models data using analytical and statistical tools.

  • Be an active member of a team delivering data analytics solutions to various functional groups in the enterprise

  • Present information in ways that are universally understandable or easy to interpret and spot patterns, trends and correlations

  • Work with big data sets to turn data into actionable information

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to utilize the results of the analysis performed

  • Other duties as assigned.

Education

  • High school diploma or GED is required

  • Applicants with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in analytics discipline, such as Computer Science, MIS, or Decision Science are encouraged to apply

Experience

  • Basic understanding of Data Science and Advanced Analytic development technologies (such as Structured Query Languages (SQL), Python, Oracle, ‘R’, SAS or SPSS equivalent technologies)

  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft SharePoint,

  • Minimum 2 years of Data Science and Advanced Analytics experience preferred

  • Understanding of relational databases and the ability to write SQL queries

  • Experience with off-the-shelf reporting tools such as Cognos, Tableau, or Power BI

Skills

  • Analytical problem-solving skills

  • Familiar with Agile delivery methodologies

  • Good communication skills and ability to work well in a collaborative team environment.

  • Comfortable working an open work environment

Data Analyst Senior

Key Roles & Responsibilities

  • Work with data owners to develop meaningful visualizations for a variety of applications

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to visualize the results of advanced analytics models

  • Educate teams and individuals on data visualization tools and techniques

  • Conceptualize data visualizations based on the data being presented and the narrative to be told

  • Research and test new data visualization tools and frameworks

  • Other duties as may be assigned

  • Occasional travel for off-site meetings may be required

Education

  • High school diploma or GED is required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, Decision Science, or at least 5 years of relevant experience is preferred.

Experience

  • High level understanding of data visualization techniques

  • Hands on experience developing applications with data visualization tools

  • Creativity in designing solutions to visually describe data

  • High level understanding & working knowledge of relational databases and the ability to write complex SQL queries

  • High level understanding of Data Science and Advanced Analytic development technologies (such as Structured Query Languages (SQL), Oracle, ‘R’, SAS or SPSS equivalent technologies)

Skills

  • Knowledgeable with Agile delivery methodologies

  • Proficient communication skills and ability to build relationships across the enterprise
