Job Summary

The Substation Equipment Operator works on various equipment related projects building high voltage power lines and substations.

This role supports the construction of new Substations as well as modifications, and upgrades of existing Substations for Electrical Utility Companies throughout Florida. This is a traveling role that requires working in different job sites all over the state of Florida. Per diem is provided when applicable.

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities

• Proficiency in operation any or all of EEI’s core equipment to include but not limited to backhoes, excavators, trenchers, forklifts, and dump trucks.

• Perform a daily equipment walk around inspection and preventive maintenance.

• Responsible for his and co-workers’ safety while operating any and all EEI’s equipment.

• Follows site excavating practice such as the Trench Act.

• Other duties as assigned by Management.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be willing to travel around Florida.

• Obtain and maintain a valid State Class C driver’s license.

• Ability to learn how to operate construction equipment and use hand tools.

Preferred Qualifications

• OSHA 10.

• Previous experience building substations.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

This job operates in a field environment. This role routinely requires extended periods of bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, lifting in awkward positions, standing, and twisting. Also, working in inclement weather conditions, such as extreme heat, extreme cold, rain, ice, snow, and wind.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. This position is physically active, with lifting required. Must be able to bend and lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Clarity of vision at 20 feet or more or 20 inches or less, with the ability to judge distance and space relationships. Precise hand-eye coordination. Ability to identify and distinguish colors.
