P&C Field Services Engineer / Technician – Substation Automation (SIA Support)
Job Summary:
We are seeking experienced and motivated individuals to join our Substation Automation (SIA) Support Team for multiple vacancies across Georgia. As an Exempt position in the Protection & Control Field Services Engineer/Associate/Staff family, the pay and level will be commensurate with the qualifications, education, and experience of the successful candidate.
Responsibilities:
As a member of the SIA Support Team, you will be responsible for supporting SIA and other Protection & Control (P&C) Field Services activities statewide. Most work will be conducted remotely in a Support capacity, with occasional field work required. You will have the opportunity to drive innovative solutions and support strategic initiatives to benefit Power Delivery and Southern Company, frequently serving as a subject matter expert for your assigned function(s). This position requires self-motivation and the ability to work remotely with minimal oversight.
In addition to leading several initiatives, the successful candidate will gain extensive project management experience, engage in technology research and development, and build strong working relationships throughout Power Delivery and cross-functional areas.

Education Requirements:
4-year Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, or
4-year BS Degree in Engineering Technology, or
4-year BS Degree in Computer Science or
2-year Degree and experience in Protection & Control Field Services
Experience:
P&C Field Services or Operations Support experience
Experience with the SEL RTAC platform
Project management experience is a plus
Experience with NERC Compliance is a plus
VB.NET, MS SQL Server, TCP/IP, and HTML experience is a plus.
Computer network (Ethernet, switches, routers, servers) experience is preferred
Hands-on experience with a wide variety of substation IEDs: meters, relays, RTUs, etc. is preferred

Knowledge of physical communication media: EIA-232, EIA-485, Ethernet, etc.
Knowledge of computer networks and networking equipment
Professional oral and written communication skills
Other Requirements:
Must possess a valid driver's license.
Successful candidates shall participate in callout rotation and be available to respond to outages or other abnormal conditions outside of their normal work schedule.
Overnight travel is sometimes required.
Safety-sensitive position subject to relevant pre-employment screening(s) to determine fitness for duty.
Physical ability to operate manual switches and work in a substation environment.
Must be able to pass the standard Southern Company background check, drug screen, and NERC Background check.
Job Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain RTU configurations and associated files for SIA systems.
Design, document, and maintain installation procedures, guidelines, configuration processes, and software tools for the installation, operation, and maintenance of substation and enterprise-level SIA systems.
Design and implement change management and quality assurance policies and procedures for substation and enterprise-level SIA systems.
Participate in Georgia Power, Southern Company, and industry SIA-related project teams and committees.
Research and evaluate new SIA technologies.
Provide support for the Field SIA Team
Ensure quality reliability and compliance data tracking
Understand Cybersecurity concepts and support Power Delivery Cybersecurity
Support CIP Compliance initiatives
