Position Summary

The Enterprise Applications team at South Jersey Industries provides functional enhancement and support for applications in the SJI application portfolio. The Senior Workday Application Administrator collaborates with Human Resources teams by assisting with configuring, testing, advising, and supporting the Absence, Time, and Payroll modules. This team member serves as a liaison between both internal business stakeholders and external Workday partners. This position will identify gaps and recommend solutions and upgrades to leverage Workday’s Absence, Time, Payroll, and other Core HCM modules to make enhancements, increase return on investment, and align with strategic plans and business goals. To ensure success in this position, the incumbent will keep current on standard Workday business practices, the employee lifecycle, data migrations, interfaces to third party vendors, and ongoing trainings for Workday Absence, Time, and Payroll.

Essential Functions:

  • Meet with business stakeholders and Workday partners to participate in build/test solutions and prepare Workday workbooks for the Workday Payroll, Absence, and Time modules

  • Analyze, configure, test, and implement the functional aspects of Workday HCM projects related to Time, Absence, and Payroll; c ollaborate with and lead other consultants and quality assurance teams to develop and test new functionality and enhancements; coordinate and perform testing of system changes with process owners

  • Deliver functional specifications/requirements and quality test scenarios and scripts to customers

  • Lead local and regional Workday HCM and Payroll module review sessions, requirements meetings, development walk throughs, and user acceptance testing sessions with clients

  • Champion development activities such as configuring, testing, documentation, and maintenance support within the implementation of customized solutions; write and maintain documentation to describe development, reason, system coding, testing, changes, and corrections in accordance with policy and SOX auditing compliance

  • Recommend solutions based on the client requirements, detailing advantages and disadvantages, and provide recommendations based on best practices; translate client business rules to functional business requirements; configure Workday HCM and Payroll based on requirements

  • Provide, and take accountability for, accurate work estimations and target completion dates

  • Perform user administration and security management

  • Prepare training and knowledge transfer documentation

Qualifications

Required Background:

  • Bachelor's Degree with 5 years of relevant experience in Information Technology, Computer Science, or similar; or Master’s degree with 3 years of relevant experience

  • At least 3 years of combined experience with HCM - Payroll, Absence, and Time functions

  • Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of degree

Preferred Background:

  • At least 3 years of combined experience with Workday HCM – Payroll, Absence, and Time functions

  • Workday certification

Required Skills:

  • Experience with and in-depth knowledge of Workday or other comparable HR Business System, including role-based security administration for HR, Payroll, and Finance business users

  • Skilled at the maintenance and support of integrations including Benefits, Payroll, Maximo, and Active Directory

  • Knowledgeable of deployment of periodic releases to business systems

  • Ability to research and deploy new business processes within business systems and to define benefits to the organization

  • Excellent communication

  • Strong analytical skills
