Position Summary

A career in IT Project Management at South Jersey Industries provides the opportunity to own all aspects of projects throughout the entire software development life cycle from initiation to delivery. This includes project artifact creation and updates, budget forecasting and variance reporting, resource forecasting and allocation, progress tracking, change control, testing, documentation, training and organizational change management, cutover planning, hyper-care support, and project closure. Projects encompass a wide range of scale, complexity, and areas, including networks, servers, business facing activities, and software implementations and upgrades.

The IT Project Manager IV effectively coordinates work performed by IT staff, internal stakeholders, and external partners. This professional develops detailed project plans and manages all implementation processes. The IT Project Manager champions project design that facilitates the achievement of team, department, and organizational priorities. In alignment with the organization’s core values, this key team member maintains a high level of awareness to safety in the workplace related to both design and deployment. This key team member plays a critical role in successful project delivery within agreed budget, scope, and schedule of IT projects. This role has opportunity to make an impact on both the project management team and cross-functional teams and enable teams to meet goals. The successful candidate will possess a superb understanding of project management concepts, practices, and procedures. Essential Functions:

  • Review complete project documents for conformity and quality assurance

  • Develop new techniques and improved processes, materials, products, and champion the development of PMO strategies and roadmaps

  • Assist senior leadership and staff as a strategic technical advisor

  • Leverage advanced techniques and professional judgement while applying diversified knowledge of principles and practices to strategically modify or extend project management processes and complete assignments

  • Establish effective methods and procedures on new assignments while coordinating activities of other project managers and teams

  • Serve as a technical subject matter expert on processes and techniques for other team members

  • Provide training and guidance to new team members

  • Confer on complex questions and issues from senior engineers and professionals

Qualifications

Required Skills:

  • Demonstrated understanding of PMO and SDLC best practices, including experience with Waterfall, Agile, and Hybrid methodologies

  • Knowledge of Windows-based hardware and software applications, Enterprise Business Systems, and MS Office Suite, Visio, MS Project, Gantt Charts, or other project management tools

  • Effective communication, client relations, and customer service skills for managing contractor and vendor relationships and leading hybrid teams

  • Exceptional analytical skills

  • Skilled at interpreting and creating technical and process documentation

    Preferred Skills:

  • Demonstrated success with ServiceNow’s ITBM/SPM Portfolio/Program/Project Management suite or similar software

    Required Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 8 years of relevant experience, or;

  • Master’s degree with 6 years of relevant experience

  • Additional work experience may be considered in lieu of degree

    Preferred Background:

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification

  • Experience in a leadership or management role
