South Jersey Industries Director, Information Technology in Folsom, New Jersey

Position Summary

A career in Information Technology Leadership will provide the opportunity to be responsible for a variety of IT services functions that could include designing, developing, modifying, and implementing short- and long-term solutions to information technology (IT) needs through new and existing applications, systems architecture, network systems and applications infrastructure. This includes reviewing system requirements and business processes; architecting, designing, automating, coding, testing, debugging, implementing, and providing system application support for software solutions.

Roles and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Managing the strategic and tactical operations of a broad functional area through subordinate managers and/or high level individual contributors

  • Effectively cascading functional strategy and contributing to development of organizational policies

  • Initiating and leading departmental or interdepartmental strategic initiatives

  • Providing leadership and technical expertise for the successful management of the function

  • Overall planning and implementing budget

    This role is recognized as an internal leader with extensive technical and business expertise within a strategic organization. You will direct resources through the solutioning and support of highly complex business problems that impact success or address future work processes/technologies. It is expected that you will apply advanced analytical thought, judgment, process, documentation, automation, and technical leadership. Additionally, you will use ground-breaking methods to think beyond existing solutions to improve service levels, cost, and leverage/develop talent. It is expected that your decisions will directly impact the short-term (6 - 12 months) and long-term (12+ months) results of the functional area. You will direct and control the activities of a broad technical functional area through several department managers and/or high level individual contributors within the company. You will have overall control of planning, staffing, budgeting, managing expense priorities, talent management, and recommending and implementing changes to methods. Additionally, the level and nature of interaction of your role includes:

  • Managing the strategic and tactical operations of a broad functional area through subordinate managers and/or high level individual contributors

  • Regularly interacting with senior leadership to influence policy and negotiate decisions within area of responsibility

  • Representing SJI at professional events and possibly presenting data and findings

    This is a role that contributes through the direct supervision and/or leadership of others by accomplishing results through those subordinate team members.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 11 years of relevant experience, or;

  • Master’s degree with 8 years of relevant experience.

  • In addition, a minimum of 5 years of leadership and people management experience is required, specifically experience with technical organization.

    Relevant experience includes:

  • Technical and user support

  • System architecture

  • DevOps

  • System application support

  • Use of emerging technologies

  • Preferred experience with following: ServiceNow, Microsoft 365, PowerShell, Python, IBM Maximo, Oracle CC&B, ESRI GIS, architecture diagrams, logical models, software development lifecycles (SDLC), environment planning, disaster recovery, high availability.

  • Ability to partner and manage external vendors
