Position Specific Description

FPL is seeking a Sr. Budget Analyst to join their Nuclear organization. This role will be responsible for the cost control of various departments through the tracking and reporting of payroll, materials, and contract spend with outside service vendors. These departments include both operational and support groups necessary for plant operations. The monthly close process, including journal entries for accruals and corrections and forecasting balance of year spend, is also performed by this position as are annual processes include updating the 5 year budget plan and incorporating the continuous improvement program. Frequent interaction with site department personnel and vendors is expected. Special projects may include gathering historical cost data and providing additional details on current year costs.

The ideal candidate will have

  • Accounting, reporting, and forecasting experience

  • Familiarity with a monthly close cycle including accruals

  • A strong analytical and problem-solving mindset

  • Solid communication skills at all organizational levels

  • Strong time management and organization skills to ensure deadlines are met

  • Passion for continuous improvement

  • Experience with vendor contracts, SAP, and PowerBI is also highly desirable, but not required

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepares operating budgets, maintains records and audits accounts for units/departments

  • Compiles and reviews budgets, taking into consideration actual performance, previous expenditures and estimated expenses and income

  • Reviews departmental expenditures to ensure compliance with budget allocations

  • Maintains accurate spending records and establishes measures for budgetary control

  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

  • Bachelor’s - Accounting/Finance

  • Experience: 4+ years
