Description
Otter Tail Power Company is currently seeking a qualified student applicant to fill an Engineering Intern position in Fergus Falls, MN. The timeframe for this Intern position is from mid-May to mid-August 2025.
The duties of the Intern may include:
Perform various technical analyses of existing transmission line designs.
Data gathering, system updates, and providing support to engineering, design, and maintenance staff with their on-going efforts.
Work with computer software including PLS-CAD and AutoCAD to verify transmission line information.
Collaboration with engineers, GIS, land rights & surveying along with other departments to facilitate job duties.
Provide support as needed for transmission maintenance related activities including evaluating findings, manage and document information effectively, maintenance policy reviews and edits.
Assist with transmission line design.
QUALIFICATIONS: Looking for students in the engineering curriculum with excellent organizational and detail oriented to review and interpret various transmission line construction documents, inspection reports, mitigation plans and assist engineers and maintenance personnel. The successful candidate will need strong oral & written communication skills and the ability to work together with different departments within the company and with corresponding transmission counterparts at neighboring utilities. The successful candidate must have proficient computer skills with the ability to run various software applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and AutoCAD. Background in structural engineering classes is preferred, but not required. Some travel may be required. The expected base compensation for this role is $17-$24 hourly.
