The New Service Work Planner is responsible for the work planning and design of the CenterPoint Energy customer driven workload such as new gas/electric service installations, service relocations, service resize and service abandons/retirements. Plays a key role in delivering a high quality customer experience affecting the Company's perception by its customers and the public in general and impacts the ability to grow customer count. This position reports directly to the Work Planning Supervisor.

Specifically, you’ll have the opportunity to be:

  • Responsible for planning new electric and gas service orders, service relocations, service resize and service abandons/retirements

  • Ensure work plans facilitate timely and cost-effective completion of the CenterPoint Energy customer driven workload

  • Assess work situations, i.e.., franchise, work scope, materials, tools, time, craft estimates

  • Review compliance requirements with associated work to ensure, along with schedulers, field supervision, and technicians that work practices are in line with regulations

  • Maintain close working relationship with CenterPoint Energy field personnel

  • Non-graphically plan work orders, including the application of appropriate design adding material components; including initiating and/or monitor permit process

  • Ensure that all projects are planned for timely, accurate, and cost-effective completion and in accordance with Company policy

  • Assess the work load of orders in the CenterPoint Energy field division’s work planning backlog to prioritize and manage work, assessing customer need and work type

  • Manage projects as needed, including communicating effectively with the end use customer and/or builder/contractor

  • Perform and/or interpret information received from on-site visits for planning information

  • Perform customer calls to obtain information required to complete the planning of a work order as required to achieve departmental goals and business objectives

Perform customer calls to relay customer contribution for all customer driven work and generation of ARO for billing of such costs

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma and/or GED equivalent required

  • Associates Degree or equivalent experience preferred

Preferred Experience, Education and Skills:

  • Minimum of 1 year experience with Banner CIS (billing)

  • Experience with SAP

  • Experience with CPAS Portal, preferred

  • Familiarity with construction standards and practices, a plus
