Job Summary:
The Benefits Accounting team plays a vital role within the Finance & Accounting organization and our Company. The Benefits Accounting team is integral in administering health & welfare invoices, posting of payrolls into the accounting system, recording monthly journal entries, assisting with monthly and quarterly close of books, and completing account reconciliations.
Essential Functions:
Administer health & welfare invoices
Post bi-weekly, off-cycle, and monthly payrolls into accounting system
Generate and analyze reports from the payroll system for management
Reconcile account activity and resolves discrepancies for various payroll and benefits related GL accounts
Prepare accruals related to the Company’s Short-term Incentive Plan and Savings Plan (401K)
Administer and record journal entries for Pension Plans, Postretirement Medical Plans, Stock Based Compensation and various other executive benefit programs such as Deferred compensation, Corporate
Owned Life Insurance, Split Dollar Life Insurance, and Supplemental Executive Retirement Plan
Assist with month and quarter end close of books in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
Assist in testing internal controls within Financial Services department (SO 404)
Consistently manage time and resources to appropriately prioritize and complete goals and objectives
Use analytical and spreadsheet skills to prepare analyses
Utilize SAP for research and reporting
Support on-going efforts towards processes to continue to manage risk and improve operational efficiencies and continuous improvement opportunities
Performs all aspects of work with high degree of effectiveness, efficiency and accuracy
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Management or MBA in the absence of a bachelor’s degree in the preferred fields.
Experience:
Minimum of 3 years of related experience.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with attention to detail
Experience with employee benefit programs.
Experience with SAP or other ERP system.
