About this Role

The Technician/Mechanic must be capable of performing required maintenance and service on PAR West’ Electric diesel and gas company vehicles. Task assignments are directed by management to encourage skill development in a productive manner. The Technician works under general supervision of the designated Supervisor or Fleet Manager. Repairs will typically be completed in the field or on the job site and the successful candidate will need to exercise some judgement and discretion in resolving issues or making repairs.

What You'll Do

  • Works in accordance with all federal/provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (i.e., safety, DOT, ANSI)

  • Knowledge of and ability to apply knowledge of computers (intermediate level)

  • Safety Sensitive Position

  • Perform thorough, accurate PM inspections.

  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude

  • Follow company required schedules and complete all required PM maintenance operations including lubrication, fluid changes, brake adjustment, and tire rotation.

  • Perform complex operations including engine, electrical, fuel, brake, and exhaust repairs and field tests.

  • Diagnoses standard mechanical and electronic problems, utilizing diagnostic computer when applicable

  • Identifies root cause of basic failures/conditions and perform repairs as required

  • Replaces defective components as instructed

  • Document repairs and parts on work orders completely and accurately.

  • Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties

  • Performs standard vehicle maintenance

  • Performs standard component inspections and repairs

  • Performs preventive maintenance

  • Performs facility maintenance duties

  • Interacts with team members to properly determine nature of complaint once assigned a task

  • Utilizes key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation available

  • Perform emergency roadside services as needed.

  • Complete and apply required technical training as assigned

  • Performs other support duties as required to support operations.

What You'll Bring

  • Five (5) years’ experience as a mechanic in an automotive, school bus, trucking or heavy equipment environment

  • One to Five (5) years or more combination of classroom training or work experience of performing basic and advanced mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy duty and medium duty equipment,including aerial/hydraulics, and the ability to demonstrate proficiency with advanced diagnostics, overhaul, and repair of all vehicle components and systemspreferred.

  • Aerial experience working with either Altec/ Versa lift or Terex machinespreferred/desired.

  • Must supply your own tools.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent supplemented by specialized vehicle and equipment repair courses applicable to diesel or truck maintenance and repair.

  • Vocational or Technical Certification, Post-secondary vocational education (preferred)

  • Highly thorough and dependable. Work shift work and weekends as required. Perform all entry level tasks

  • Must possess state license as required

  • Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred.

  • Job may require on-call duty, extended hours, or weekend work.

  • Effective interpersonal communication skills

  • Willing to travel

Compensation Range

The anticipated compensation for this position is USD $38.00/Hr. - USD $46.00/Hr. depending on experience and qualifications.
