Position Summary
Under general direction, the Classification & Compensation Specialist is responsible for the leading, implementation, and integration of Grant PUDs compensation and classification strategy to enable the organization to attract and retain top talent.

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Implements and leads Grant PUDs compensation and classification philosophy and principles in compensation related decisions and processes.
Provides professional guidance and leadership on Grant PUD’s compensation and classification programs. Ensure that positions are accurately classified, and employees are fairly and competitively compensated based on their skills, responsibilities, and market value.
Partners with HRBPs, recruiters, managers, total rewards team and the Executive team on compensation and classification related matters.
Acts as a consultant on base salary, deferred compensation, and pay and classification equity programs with organizational leaders and HR staff.
Compensation Research and Analysis: Conduct market research and analysis to gather data on industry trends, salary ranges, and compensation practices to ensure competitive pay structures. Benchmark positions against external market data to determine appropriate salary ranges and compensation levels. Analyze internal pay equity to ensure fair and consistent compensation practices within the organization.
Compensation Program Development and Implementation: Design and develop compensation programs, policies, and guidelines that align with Grant PUD’s overall compensation strategy and objectives.
Develop and implement job classification structures, salary structures, and pay grades.
Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations related to compensation, such as minimum wage laws and pay equity regulations.
Advises managers by providing guidance on offers for new hires and internal promotions that takes into consideration diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and pay equity.
Leads and supports compensation processes including the classification, annual merit increase review, promotions, pay equity analysis and all programs related to compensation/classification.
Communication and Training: Educate and train managers and employees on the organization's compensation policies, practices, and guidelines. Respond to inquiries and provide guidance on compensation-related matters. Communicate compensation changes, updates, and initiatives to employees.
Reviews, evaluates, and revises Grant PUDs compensation programs regularly.
Utilize HRIS (Human Resources Information System) and other technology tools to manage and maintain compensation data, salary structures, and employee records.
Collaborate with the HRIS team to ensure accurate and efficient compensation data management and reporting.
Conducts position evaluations, job audits, job classifications, position description creation, pay equity to support diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging, and provide oversight of compliance with regulations and labor/employment laws.
Designs, builds, and owns central compensation modeling and budgeting initiatives with HR leadership and Finance.

Education and Experience
Required
Bachelor’s degree Human Resources, Business Administration, Law, a social, organizational science, or a closely related field or an equivalent level of education/experience
five years of recent experience performing compensation and classification duties in organizations with 500+ employees.
Preferred
Advanced degree in human resources, business administration, law, organizational/social science, or closely related field.
Experience participating in compensation surveys.
Experience setting salary ranges and pay grades.
Experience in the utilities and/or energy sector.
License and Certification
Required
- WA Drivers License without Restrictions.
Preferred
- Professional certification such as Certified Compensation Professional, Society for Human Resources Management Certified Professional or Senior Certified Professional, or HRCI Professional in Human Resources or HRCI Senior Professional in Human Resources.

Per Grant County PUD policy all employees are required to work at their designated headquarters at least two days per week.
Majority of work is performed in a standard office setting.
