Job Summary

We are seeking an entry or mid-level Chemist to join the team at Greensville County Power Station in Greensville County, Virginia. Motivated, energetic candidates are encouraged to apply to this hands-on position.

Greensville Power Station is a gas fired combined power station that has been generating electricity since 2018 and has a net generating capacity of approximately 1,600 Megawatts. The Greensville County site is located between Lawrenceville and Emporia, VA on US 58.

The position will be filled at the level commensurate with the successful candidate's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.

This position may offer a relocation package to the qualified candidate who meets relocation guidelines.

Chemist IPerforms routine sampling, analysis, and documentation of water, fuel, chemical, or environmental chemistry samples. Analyzes routine, daily samples for compliance with regulations, or with company and station standards. Analyzes and monitors data for obvious implications, and evaluates to develop recommendations or reports for supervision. Maintains and calibrates laboratory equipment and supplies. Provides analytical chemistry support for special projects or tasks. Maintains laboratory data and logs. Conducts chemical and physical lab or field tests. Perform other duties as requested or assigned.

Chemist II

Performs sampling, analysis and reporting and recording of water, fuel, chemical, or environmental chemistry samples. Coordinates with operations, field and department staff to discuss implications of results of analysis. Ensures quality and compliance of laboratory and sampling procedures, and recommends operating guidelines to improve production quality. Consults with other departments and provides advice on chemistry problems. Analyzes samples, monitors chemical quality of operating systems and cycles, fuel, wastes, etc., and/or conducts study audits with results and recommendations to management. Maintains quality control assurance program for lab methods, ensures equipment calibration, and verifies documentation. Performs studies. and prepares reports and recommendations, for design or process changes. Coordinates with company and station personnel, providing technical support and analysis, to assist in plant equipment maintenance, or to improve company operations. Develops laboratory analysis procedures for training other employees. Reviews data and reports, provides analyses and maintains computer information accuracy. Orders and tracks all lab chemicals and equipment. May perform maintenance, calibrations, and troubleshooting of advanced analytical instrumentation and/or train other staff. Perform other duties as requested or assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Chemist I0-2 years of related chemistry experience and a bachelor degree or equivalent combination of education and demonstrated directly related experience.

Additional KSA’sBasic knowledge of analytical chemistry, laboratory concepts, and laboratory techniques. Basic knowledge of environmental regulations. Basic knowledge of computer applications.

Chemist II

3-4 years of related chemistry experience and a bachelor degree or equivalent combination of education and demonstrated directly related experience.

Additional KSA’sFull knowledge of analytical chemistry, laboratory concepts, and laboratory techniques. Full knowledge of environmental regulations. Basic knowledge of computer applications. Basic knowledge of company operations. Analytical and deductive reasoning skills. Laboratory skills. Communication skills. Technical writing skills. Instrumentation skills. Mathematical skills. Ability to troubleshoot and solve equipment or process problems. Ability to conduct site inspections or walkdowns.

Both levels

Military service members and veterans with ranks from E3-E5, W1-W2, or O1-O3, plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience as outlined above.

Note: A partial year of related work experience of 6 months or greater will count as one year toward the qualifications.

A Master's Degree will count as one year towards the years of experience.
