Your Impact at SAM
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Project Engineer to join our civil engineering team. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with a team of engineers and designers on private land development projects, focusing primarily on commercial and industrial site development. The Project Engineer will be responsible for the design, analysis, and implementation of civil engineering solutions that adhere to industry standards and client requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Design and Planning:
Develop detailed civil engineering designs for land development projects, including grading, drainage, utility layout, and site planning
Prepare site development plans, specifications, and cost estimates
Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analysis for stormwater management
Project Management:
Assist in the management of projects from conception through construction, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met
Coordinate with clients, architects, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure project requirements and objectives are achieved
Prepare and present project reports, proposals, and status updates
Technical Analysis:
Conduct technical analyses and calculations for civil engineering projects
Utilize CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D) and other engineering tools to create and review design drawings
Ensure designs comply with local, state, and federal regulations and standards
Collaboration and Support:
Work closely with the Senior Project Manager and other team members to provide engineering support throughout the project lifecycle
Participate in project meetings and site visits as required
Mentor and support junior engineers and interns
Quality Assurance:
Conduct quality control reviews of design documents to ensure accuracy and compliance with project specifications
Implement best practices in design and project management to continuously improve efficiency and effectiveness
What You Bring to SAM
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field
Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or the ability to obtain one within a reasonable timeframe
Prior experience in civil engineering design, particularly in land development and site development for commercial and industrial projects is preferred
Proficiency in CAD software, specifically AutoCAD and Civil 3D
Strong understanding of civil engineering principles, standards, and practices
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work
