General Summary We currently have an opening in our Integrated Operations Center with a strong focus on network and telecommunications within our Information Technology Division. The position ensures availability of critical infrastructure and services by monitoring, analyzing, and taking action to remedy/resolve network, system, and application performance issues and security events. Main responsibilities include: · Support availability of our multi-technology resilient network built on private fiber, private wireless, leased services, and DMVPN architectures for mission-critical services. · Enable automation with upgrades and updates using Python and Ansible to keep our infrastructure current and secure. · Beyond infrastructure, support availability for server, backups, and applications. · Act as our major incident manager during infrequent but visible outages. · Resolve incidents and communicate with all levels in the organization following standard procedures and ensuring adherence to service level agreements using our Maximo ticketing system. · Lead the CAB and oversee the change management program and other operational activities such as DR testing. · Utilize various monitoring and management tools for event detection, problem identification, trending or historical analysis, and take corrective or remedial actions where appropriate. · Recommend and oversee implementation of additional monitoring efforts to promote proactive incident detection and response, preventive maintenance, and change management practices. · Respond to information requests from business customers, telecommunications providers, and interconnected utilities, and coordinate planned or unplanned outages with appropriate parties. · Monitor and triage backup, network, anti-virus, and other security or operational alerts as they are generated throughout the day. · Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation. Qualifications · Bachelor’s degree in a technology related field and 3+ years of experience in IT operations OR 2+ years post high school education in a technology related field and 5+ years of experience in IT operations. · Strong network troubleshooting skills. Working knowledge and maintenance of WANs, LANs, routing protocols, SNMP, Internet Protocol Suites and Cisco networking equipment. · Deep understanding of the OSI and TCP/IP model. · Experiences with IPv4 addressing, subnetting, routing protocol (OSPF and BGP) and switching (VLAN, VTP, Spanning Tree, etc...) · Experience with Cisco IOS upgrades and familiar with Infoblox. · Good understanding of how DHCP and DNS work. · Knowledge of MPLS, TDM and RF network transmission systems and integration of these technologies in a large-scale, complex, regional network is a plus. · Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to relate complex technical issues to non-technical audiences. · Experience with SolarWinds Orion and SIEM tools to proactively find and prevent potential problems. · Experience in application, system, and network monitoring and incident response. · Advanced knowledge of change management, incident response and operations management practices. · Formal ITIL training is preferred with ability to remain calm in high pressure situations · Knowledge of operating systems (Windows, Linux, VMWare) and server and storage concepts (SAN principles, high-availability, clustering) and patch management practices is a plus.
