Job Summary

PSE&G is seeking a new member for the Technical Training team within the Transformation & Centralized Service organization at our Edison NJ location. The team performs analysis, design, development, and evaluation of technical training for PSE&G’s Electric Distribution LOB clients. The successful incumbent will advance the training that supports a safe, skilled, and efficient utility work force working in concert with a team of training professionals for PSE&G’s Service Dispatcher occupational group. This role is to train electric service dispatchers in accordance with job specifications, contractual obligations, technical manuals with a focus on energy control procedures and service restoration.

PSE&G is seeking a new member for the Technical Training team within the Centralized Service organization. The team performs analysis, design, development, evaluation, and delivery of technical training for PSE&G line of business clients. This position will focus on Service Dispatch skills training in electric distribution to fulfill the duties of apprentice and incumbent employees in accordance with their job specifications, collective bargaining obligations and regulatory requirements including field supervision.

This position is on-site at our Edison Training Center in Edison, New Jersey. Additional on-call / overtime / field assignments can be available as qualified by the Division.

Job Responsibilities

  • Instruct Electric distribution courses. Responsible to coach and develop trainees in their classroom. Become proficient in teaching General Electric distribution classes, such as Substation Awareness, Safety Tagging, and/or DC/AC.

  • Content development updates. The individual actively works to annually develop learning content for their courses, work with learning technology, and time management skills Develop relationships with subject matter experts to identify training needs and related content.

  • Develop relationships with external subject matter experts to identify industry best practices. Use learning technology, Analysis, design, and evaluate apprentice and incumbent employee technical training.

  • Be a supervisor of work by BU employees on field assignments in the Division.

  • Content development updates. actively works to annually develop learning content for their courses, work with learning technology, and time management skills.

  • Understand and explain key training metrics associated with the Manager’s Dashboard.

Job Specific Qualifications

Required:

  • High school graduate or GED Minimum of 7 years of utility experience in service dispatch.

  • Able to learn and apply training and development processes of analysis, design, development, evaluation, and alternative delivery methods, including automated computer-based applications training.

  • Proficient in Word, Microsoft Excel, and Power Point.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Possess a valid U.S. driver’s license and maintain a safe driving record.

  • Storm Duty – will be called upon to support storm duty as needed by the Division or Emergency Operations Center (EOC).

Desired:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, training, or instructional design.

  • Knowledge / experience or the ability to learn evolving systems, such as assessment facilitation, need/task analysis, instructional design/development, and instructional evaluation.

  • Ability to facilitate joint union / management assessment teams Supervisory and / or project management related experience.

  • Experience in Learning Management System (LMS) use and data management / reporting.

  • Experience in alternative training delivery methods, including automated, computer-based or virtual / augmented reality applications.

  • Process Improvement skills / Lean Six Sigma Green Belt.
