Primary responsibility is to supervise both non-union and union employees in the CT Gas meter lab and meter reading departments. Responsible for administering meter testing and meter reading programs for the CT Gas Operations. Works with other departments to research and resolve customer issues. Hires and trains new employees. Plans, schedules, assigns and appraises activities within Meter Services. Maintains gas measurement inventory, files necessary PURA documents, manages departmental audits and provides deliverables. Ensures customer meters are read as scheduled and reads uploaded as required on a daily basis. Oversees the total meter services operations and advises/reports to management as needed. Follows approved policies, standards, procedures, safety rules, and oversees budgets. Mentor and actively assist in enhancing the skill development of supervisors to ensure employee growth and development to become a leader within the organization. Individual must possess a thorough working knowledge of operating procedures and provides support to other operations staff; resolves complaints. Provides both the administrative and managerial supervision to supervisors and bargaining unit employees.
MAJOR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Scope of work - range of responsibilities):
Manage the daily activities of supervisors and employees responsible for the gas meter labs and meter reading functions. Supervises both company employees and contractors to ensure all systems are operating as needed to ensure proper metering and bill preparations occur within the realm of the meter services area.
Assumes duties and responsibilities of Manager in his/ her absence.
Frequent interaction with internal and external customers to solve problems/concerns and ensure customer satisfaction.
Identify and implement best practices across the companies to ensure a productive and efficient organization.
Responsible for the scheduling and coordination of administrative departmental activities, not limited to, Operator
Qualification compliance, training, vacations, scheduling, and other items as needed.
Directly assist the Manager in identifying development areas and developing performance improvement initiatives for the company.
Ensures the achievement of departmental goals, including O&M; and capital budgets. Tracks all pertinent information for reporting. Maintains meter, device inventory and SAP records system.
Manages the meter reading and DDM systems and responsible for direct oversight of all systems within Meter Services.
Ensure all employees fully understand their personal responsibility and accountability to adhere to standards of performance and departmental objectives in regards to safety and all other work related activities.
Align departments to ensure maximum consistency and flexibility amongst all work groups.
Provides input to and oversees the budget for the assigned work group(s).
Responsible for processing payroll, overtime, and tracking employee productive/unproductive work time.

Education & Experience Required:
Associates degree with 7 years’ experience.
Proven interpersonal skills and able to foster employee development. Analytical and problem solving skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Able to supervise and coordinate labor and resources to provide quality customer service to internal and external clients.
At least 7 years of customer service, and/or gas operations experience is needed. A strong working knowledge of customer billing, gas measurement, meter reading, credit activities, customer service policies and SAP. Supervisory experience in Meter Reading Collector, FSR, Meter Technician or Customer Service recommended. Knowledge of PURA rules and regulations. The candidate must have strong quantitative skills with a proven ability to use/produce spreadsheets or other similar programs, strong written and verbal skills and a proven ability to use MS Office. Must be self-directed and have demonstrated initiative and assertiveness skills with strong labor relations skills and experience with the grievance process and a working understanding of the Collective Bargaining Agreements. Proven ability to multitask in a fast paced, mission critical environment. Must have a valid driver’s license.
