Eversource Energy Lead Engineer - Substation Compliance, Standards & Support (Hybrid) in East Berlin, Connecticut

This is a hybrid role.  The first three months arefulltimein the office.

Lead Engineer serves as the 3-State Substation Engineering representative for all compliance and process related needs across the Substation Engineering, Substation Design, Substation Civil Engineering and Substation Document Control organizations. Responsible for maintaining, modifying, and developing all Substation Engineering related processes, procedures, controls, training and reporting to ensure compliance with internal and external procedures and associated requirements and to ensure successful execution of substation design functions as necessary to meet the objectives of the organization.

Responsible for supervising, assigning, prioritizing and directing the work performed by other Engineers and staff.

Essential Functions:

  • Supervises, coaches, and develops engineers; approves time and conducts performance reviews. Assigns, prioritizes, and directs work performed by at least 2 FTE engineers and Program Lead.
  • Oversees Substation and Transmission Line thermal ratings processes and coordinates development of thermal ratings changes across engineering disciplines to ensure compliance with internal Eversource procedures and FAC-008 requirements.
  • Maintains, modifies and/or develops engineering processes and procedures to ensure efficient and successful execution of internal Substation Design functions and proper coordination with external multi-discipline processes.
  • Serves as 3-State Substation Lead Engineer for all enterprise-wide Substation Engineering process improvement initiatives and engineering funded capital project efforts.
  • Interfaces with regional Substation Engineering departments to implement and ensure and compliance with engineering processes and procedures. Leads efforts to ensure continuous process improvement.
  • Maintains, modifies, develops, and implements tools and processes to provide improved organizational performance including reporting metrics, training modules, QA/QC processes, etc.
  • Serves as 3-State Substation interface for all Compliance and Internal Audit related efforts.
  • Collaborates with Managers, Lead Engineers, and Engineers within other engineering departments and disciplines to ensure consistency and coordination of efforts.
  • Collaborates with other departments such as Asset Management, Project Management, Project Scheduling, Standards Engineering, Operations, IT, etc. as necessary.
  • Serves as 3-State Substation representative on all incident analysis and root-cause analysis related efforts and is responsible for development and implementation any/all Substation Engineering related process/procedural related corrective action items.
  • Possess the ability to communicate effectively with others, use computers effectively, and write clearly and concisely.
  • Assumes the role of the Manager as required.
  • Expected to assist with storm duty and any other major system related events.

Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications:

Education: Requires a BS in Electrical Engineering or BS Engineering Technology

Experience:

  • Minimum of eight (8) years engineering experience in the electrical utility industry.
  • Experience in leading engineering initiatives, procedure/process development, and establishing compliance requirements on internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to independently develop, present and execute new initiatives with minimal supervision.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.

Licenses & Certifications: PE License Preferred but not required.

Compensation:

Eversource offers a competitive total rewards program.  Theannualsalary range for this positionis$137,000.00to$153,000.00, plus incentive.  Salary iscommensuratewith your experience.  Check out the career site for an overview of our benefits.

Working Conditions:

  • Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.
  • Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.
  • Work is performed primarily in an office environment which requires sitting, standing, walking and climbing stairs are involved. Job can require traveling to operating districts and companies within and outside the state.
  • Depending on the specific nature of the engineering role, position may require occasional to significant travel by car. A valid driver’s license is required.
