Job Summary:

The Autodesk AutoCAD Electrical Designer is responsible for the application of Autodesk AutoCAD Electrical software in the detailed design of electric systems and components for Substation Facilities in accordance with applicable industry codes and standards.

The hourly range for this position is $25 / hour - Commensurate, depending on relevant experience, education, and qualifications.

Who You Are:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering and/or Technical Certificate/Degree or associate degree is acceptable

  • 5+ years of AutoCAD experience at least 2 years of AutoCAD Electrical experience

  • Experience working in electrical designs within the utility industry preferred

  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex electrical and mechanical systems.

  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings

  • Knowledge and ability to apply problem solving approaches and engineering theory.

  • Knowledge of engineering design, principles and practices.

  • Knowledge of complex field test equipment such as protection and control relays.

  • Strong teamwork, interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with supervisors.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

  • MS Word/Excel skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Background in Power Systems (Electrical substation equipment and their functions, Protective Relays etc.)

  • AutoCAD Vault experience

  • Familiarity with SDS toolkits for substation design in ACADE

  • Database creation and management (Microsoft Access)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Using Autodesk AutoCAD Electrical in the preparation of intelligent 2-D panel layouts, schematics, and wiring diagrams of electrical substation equipment, power distribution system, etc.

  • Create Protection and control smart blocks using ACADE and associate attribute information

  • Develop/convert protection and control standards in smart drawings in an ACADE environment.

  • Develop required procedures, job aids and flow charts in support of intelligent CAD implementation.

  • Support database development and management efforts. Working in Vault

  • Coordinate with electrical engineers, senior designers and vendors to develop the intelligent drawings.
