Southern Company Access Specialist Sr- Farley in Dothan, Alabama

The Access Specialist is responsible for assisting the APOC with the site implementation of the Access Authorization Program and for conducting nuclear background investigations, granting unescorted access to nuclear facilities. This position requires on-site location. This position will also be responsible for the following:

  • Processing screening documentation to determine if regulatory requirements for unescorted access authorization have been satisfactorily completed.

  • Coordinating and/or conducting interviews and gathering information to be utilized in the adjudication of adverse information.

  • Support the fleet in the implementation of refueling outage in-processing.

  • Controlling Confidential Information.

  • Entering and verifying data in the SNC Access Authorization Program (Empact) and the Nuclear Industry Database (PADS).

  • Ensuring that applicants seeking unescorted access authorization have met the requirements and standards of the SNC Access Authorization Program by reviewing data, documentation and adjudication results.

  • Conducting Background Investigations as directed.

  • Evaluating information to determine the trustworthiness and reliability of applicants prior to granting unescorted access as well as informing them of the basis for any negative access decision.

  • Conduct limited Reviewing Official duties for reinvestigations for plant personnel.

  • Conducting & supporting department process improvement initiatives

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred

Experience Requirements

  • Previous Access Authorization/Fitness for Duty experience required (outage in-processing, badge office, etc.).

  • Familiarity with nuclear plant access requirements.

  • Ability to motivate and coach for human performance excellence.

  • Knowledge of plant programs and processes to include site day to day operations.

  • Knowledge of NRC regulatory requirements.

  • Experience in leading or implementing a process, program or action plan that supports plant operations is required.
