Position Specific Description

Florida City Gas is looking for a Field Technician 1 to join their team in Doral, FL. In this role you will support our field operations natural gas team. Applicants who do not hold Certification for Basic, General and Advanced Meter Activation or Operator Qualification, will be provided with the relevant training and must be certified within 6-months of employment.

Job Overview

Employees in this role complete a variety of tasks associated with the installation of above and below ground piping. Individuals complete all customer work assigned, as well as all compliance and emergency response activities. Employees in this position serve as a member of a below ground crew, engaged in installing and repairing gas mains and services. This job protects company and customer assets.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Performs leak investigations following service activations and performs maintenance and repairs on customer’s appliances and other gas equipment

  • Conducts and documents complete investigations of customer premises in response to questionable gas consumption or other issues

  • Performs all necessary pipefitting activities on both above and below ground gas facilities

  • Performs valve operation and maintenance, performs underground leak investigation and grading for special surveys, shorted casing surveys, re-checks and re-evaluates, and assists with pipe joining methods

  • Responds to planned and emergency requests for gas service and repairs leaks on meter sets

  • Responds to gas pipeline emergencies and participates in the on-call rotation for off-shift emergency response

  • Interacts with customers to answer questions, explain work performed, give instructions for operation of appliances, and promote gas usage

  • Identifies abnormal operating conditions, takes appropriate actions, and performs miscellaneous inspections as required

  • Captures work order documentation on the company-provided technology accurately

  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • High School Grad / GED

  • Experience: 2+ years

  • Valid Driver's License (NON CDL)

  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL)

  • Florida City Gas (FCG) Training and Certification(s): - AUT Certified- Locate Certified- Certified Basic Meter Activation- Operator Qualifications

  • For all external candidates: must obtain all FCG training certifications within 9 months from the date of hire
