Specifically, this position will be working with DTE Midstream. DTE Midstream (www.dtemidstream.com) is the energy industry's trusted natural gas storage, pipeline, and gathering provider across the Midwest, Appalachia, Northeast, and Ontario. We develop and construct tailored infrastructure solutions for our customers in order to achieve reliable, safe, and cost-effective transport and storage of natural gas. This position will work within multi-disciplinary teams formed to identify, evaluate, negotiate, and execute energy-related transactions. Reporting tothe Director of Finance, the person in this position exercises independent discretion and judgement within established policies, procedures, and practices. Results are reviewed through the achievement of set goals and adherence to these policies, procedures, and practices.


  • Analyze complex business unit financial information in order to prepare budgest and forecasts

  • Analyze capital projects and new business opportunities using corporate models, develop alternatives and recommendations, and present analyses to business unit senior leadership

  • Contribute to various business planning efforts, including but not limited to, scorecards, business unit marketing plans, industry benchmarking, and monthly business meetings with executive leadership

  • Evaluate internal processes and identify opportunities to improve performance

  • Provide a broad range of financial and commerical skills

  • Ability to manage the details of complex business transactions

  • Ability to work within a team-oriented environment in rapidly evolving markets

  • Identify, screen, and evaluate potential transactions

  • Assess the opportunities, risks, returns, and strategic fit, presenting analysis andrecommendations to senior management and execute the transactions

  • Perform all other duties as assigned


At a minimum a Bachelor's degree in business or economics, from an accredited institution. MBA preferred with at least four years of directly related work experience, to provide for the following:

  • Superior modeling proficience, sound valuation knowledge, and strong financial disciplines

  • Mergers and acquisitions, project finance, and commerical/financial agreement negotiation experience a plus

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisor, coworkers, management and the general public

  • Ability to efficiently handle competing priorities and tasks, remain organized and meet deadlines

  • Ability to perceive and analyze problems, develop alternatives, and make or recommend sound decisions

  • Possess a keen attention to detail with a high level of accuracy

  • Possess good business acumen

  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to function within a matrix organization in which functional and business leaders have equal authority within the organization and employees report to both a functional leader and a business leader
