Job Summary

Location: Detroit, MI

The position will be responsible for identifying and executing new business opportunities. A strong candidate would be able to demonstrate a proven track record of originating, developing, and closing substantial transactions. A candidate should also possess a broad range of financial and commercial skills, be capable of managing the details of complex transactions, have the ability to work within a team-oriented environment in rapidly evolving markets, and be able to handle multiple assignments. The employee exercises independent discretion and judgment within established policies, procedures, and practices.Headquartered in Detroit, MI, but remote work may be considered depending upon location.

Key Accountabilities

  • Drives origination of opportunities in current focus markets

  • Responsible for overall deal leadership for key projects including external relationship management, commercial negotiations, contract negotiations, internal resource management and business unit relationships

  • Identifies new market opportunities and ideas (including new business areas) and initial evaluation/screening

  • Identifies key strategic issues and development of plans to address.

  • Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements

  • Abachelor’s degree is required with a preference in science, engineering, or business discipline (emphasis in finance a plus) with a minimum 10 years of experience with an independent energy company, or alternatively, a consulting firm or investment bank focused on energy.

Other Qualifications

Preferred:

  • A Master of Business Administration

  • Ability to identify value-creation opportunities.

  • Possess a commercial background and be familiar with all aspects of structuring commercial transactions in the energy industry and in negotiations of the related commercial and financial agreements.

  • Possess strong project management skills.

  • Possess excellent modeling skills and experienced in valuation methodologies and financial disciplines.

Other Requirements:

  • Work well as a leader of large company team, and successfully close complex energy and/or asset related contracts

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, strong presentation skills and the ability to analyze and communicate complex transactions to senior management a must.

  • Ability to take initiative.

  • Ability to handle multiple assignments.

  • Ability to travel as necessary.

The employee performs job duties primarily in a work from home capacity and periodically from a climate-controlled office environment, with a moderate noise level.
