Job Summary

Provides support to the Electric Choice Customer and Supplier Support Team. Processes inquiries from active and prospective customers, alternative electric suppliers, and marketers. Establishes customer and supplier accounts, processes customer bills and assists with the timely resolution of billing inquiries and disputes for customer and supplier.

Key Accountabilities

  • Responsible for managing the Electric Choice Customer and Supplier Support Team hotline and email accounts; answering calls, promptly resolving customer/supplier inquiries, directing issues to the appropriate resource, and monitoring resolution of issues. Maintains call center logs and related documentation.

  • Responsible for the timely and accurate billing of Electric Choice customer accounts in SAP IS-U, Industry Specific Solution for Utilities Industry and SAP CRM, Customer Relationship Management and the enrollment, modification, disenrollment and maintenance of these accounts.

  • Establishes specified terms and conditions for customer accounts starting, modifying or terminating Electric Choice service in SAP IS-U, Industry Specific Solution for Utilities Industry and SAP CRM, Customer Relationship Management to ensure accuracy of initial invoice.

  • Analyzes Electric Choice customer accounts to ensure billing is both accurate and timely and resolves any problems discovered. Ensures billing information sent to the supplier via XML is accurate and timely.

  • Processes adjustments, corrections and updates to Electric Choice customer accounts. Ensures that any billing changes are transmitted to suppliers via XML and reflected in SAP IS-U, Industry Specific Solution for Utilities Industry.

  • Performs complex billing and processes refund requests.

  • Responds to requests for billing information and historical usage data, and answers metering and enrollment status inquiries.

  • Issues work orders to Field Service Automation for the installation, removal and modification of Electric Choice meters. Works with FSA and AMA to ensure that all Electric Choice meters are read on a regular basis.

  • Supports the Electric Choice Annual MPSC and FERC Regulatory requirements.

  • Analyzes data and provide timely reports to management concerning Electric Choice program enrollment and status and financial reports reflecting customer account information.

  • Maintains supplier and billing central files, including all supplier contracts and qualifications, return to service, and 10% cap documentation.

  • Communicates with both internal and external customers, including Marketing Account Services, Major Accounts Billing, Residential Customer Billing, Regulatory Affairs, and Electric Choice customers, suppliers.

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent and three years of related experience interacting with external customers, preferably commercial accounts.

Other Qualifications


  • Associate’s degree with Marketing or Business courses

  • Extensive knowledge of and experience with company billing systems, SAP IS-U, Industry Specific Solution for Utilities Industry, SAP CRM, Customer Relationship Management

  • Knowledge and experience with other company processes and systems field services, metering and data retrieval/transmittal (IEE, EI Server, AMA, FSA, XML schema and CI-Portal)

  • Customer contact and residential billing experience

Other Requirements:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office with strong analytical, planning and decision-making skills

  • Working knowledge of MPSC Billing Practice Rules

  • Highly developed communication skills, including oral, written and presentation skills
