MidAmerican Energy Company Senior Benefits Analyst in Des Moines, Iowa
Evaluate and analyze the design and delivery of all U.S. benefit programs and policies to ensure a competitive position in the marketplace and support strategic benefit projects. Analyze and define costs of benefit programs to support the development of benefit budgets and forecasts for U.S. businesses.
Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Job Function)
Evaluate and analyze the design, delivery and implementation of a variety of benefit programs and projects for United States employees through defined project plans. Through evaluation of programs, determine competitive posture and recommend changes or enhancements to senior management. Participate in the review and integration of benefit programs due to mergers, acquisitions and labor negotiations. (30-35%)
Analyze and define costs of benefit programs and develop benefit budgets and forecasts for U.S. companies. Monitor and report on experience (claims, administration fees, utilization) of all benefit plans. (25-30%)
Ensure compliance with shared responsibility provisions of health care reform by reviewing and establishing processes, creating and implementing reports for the 30-hour reporting requirements and affordability testing, and overseeing required enrollment in benefit plans. Calculate, analyze and initiate payment of the annual PCORI fees; analyze Cadillac tax provisions, projected impacts and required payments. Oversee annual distribution and filing of Form 1095-C (20-25%)
Monitor experience (claims, administration fees, utilization) of all benefit plans. Support benefit reporting and vendor interfaces. (10-15%)
Support ongoing relationships with benefit plan consultants, brokers, trustees and administrators; review administrative services contracts, administrative fees and performance guarantees and evaluate results. (10-15%)
Provide technical input to assist in development of project planning. (5-10 %)
Perform additional responsibilities as requested or assigned. (0-5%)
Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, human resources or a related major or equivalent related work experience. (Typically six years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor's degree.)
Five years of related experience in benefits design and administration, including one year in a senior or leadership role.
Experience using Oracle HCM is preferred.
Long-term planning skills to establish policies, programs and processes that will support and contribute to the realization of company goals.
