MidAmerican Energy Company Intern - Electric Forecasting in Des Moines, Iowa
Purpose of Position
The position is designed for college students who are pursuing a bachelor’s and have interest in math, statistics, etc. The intern will create maintain and adjust customer specific load profiles for use in electric load forecasting. The intent is to give students an opportunity to apply knowledge and skills learned in college and demonstrate abilities in the work place. The position is temporary, nonexempt, part-time/hourly.
Provides Support to the Following Positions
Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Job Functions)
Assist the electric operations department by completing set up and maintenance of customer accounts.
Assure forecast accuracy while using customer usage data to create hourly profiles for electric retail pricing and electric retail load forecasting.
Maintain class load profiles by monitoring EDC websites for changes and analyzing trends in aggregate usage data and time series.
Use historical hourly usage data to create baseline profiles for measurement and verification of demand response and energy efficiency solutions.
Perform additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.
Internal – Department and business unit staff
External – Retail electric customers, electric distribution companies

Undergraduate student with sophomore or higher standing currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in mathematics or statistics.
PC skills; experience in Microsoft Office software products.

Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
