MidAmerican Energy Company Forecasting Analyst I/II in Des Moines, Iowa

This is a multi-level posting. Candidates may be considered for any of the posted levels, depending on their level of experience and depth of expertise. Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Job Function) Provide short-term and long-term energy forecasts for unregulated retail customers in support of energy purchases and scheduling; coordinate the unregulated retail energy demand and supply portfolio. Typical Duties Schedule energy needs for unregulated retail customers. Maintain and troubleshoot software applications used to submit and track schedules. (20%) Investigate scheduling issues and analyze the impact to settlement. Provide support to balancing and settling. (15%) Prepare short-term and long-term energy forecasts for unregulated retail customers. (15%) Determine the impact of new products or new territories on scheduling procedures. Implement changes to scheduling procedures and track accuracy of changes. (15%) Track the relationship between the long-term retail demand forecast and the forward supply portfolio. (10%) Perform duties associated with importing usage data. Investigate missing metering data and address issues with software vendor or utility company. (10%) Monitor the forecasting accuracy and determine changes to the forecasting tools and parameters that will improve the accuracy of the forecast. (5%) Perform enrollment and setup procedures for new customers. (5%) Provide technical input to assist in development of project planning. Assist with Coincident Peak (CP) Notification program. (5%) Perform additional responsibilities as requested or assigned. Bachelor's degree in business, finance, economics, statistics, engineering or equivalent related work experience. (Typically six years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor's degree.) 1 years of scheduling, product management, financial or forecasting experience required for Analyst I level. 3 years of scheduling, product management, financial or forecasting experience required for Analyst II level. Effective analytical and problem-solving skills. Working knowledge of computer and information systems/platforms. Strong process and project management skills with excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
