Job Description

GENERAL SUMMARY

Under the direction of the supervisor, an individual will be expected to procure parts, research parts needed, work with maintenance and operations, cycle count, put away parts, optimize cost and work with vendors, and as needed plan and schedule maintenance work activities including major overhauls, machine modifications, outside contract services and procurement of parts and materials to accomplish assigned tasks.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. To lead and/or effectively communicate with other employees in order to plan and procure parts, material needs, and downtime required to accomplish tasks of either scheduled or unscheduled repairs and to communicate the status of parts on order.

  2. Initiate new spare parts standards and maintain and update established spare parts standards, mins and max.

  3. Perform assigned tasks independently or with input from supervisor, maintenance engineer, blueprints and/or maintenance manuals.

  4. Complete and maintain records in CMMS, Procureit & SAP as required by management such as maintenance work order, inspection reports, P.M. check lists, quote sheets, etc.

  5. Be thoroughly familiar with the Purchasing/Receiving, CMMS, Supply screens, and Southwire Systems on PC in order to coordinate and follow-up on the ordering and delivery of materials.

  6. Possess and maintain a thorough knowledge of all equipment operations, maintenance procedures and operating standards.

ENVIRONMENTAL/SAFETY/QUALITY

  1. Follow all company environmental rules/procedures and handle all materials in a manner designed to minimize environmental impact.

  2. Follow prescribed safety rules/procedures so as to prevent injury to self and others and to maintain safe equipment and conditions in entire area of responsibility.

  3. Seek the assistance and advice of safety representatives on matters concerning safe practices, policies and/or procedures and give personal support to all safety activities and procedures.

  4. Use the company’s ISO Quality System documentation to help guide all daily quality activities.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  1. Could be exposed to working conditions such as inclement weather, heat, cold, noise, vibration, dust, dirt, fumes, water, oil and heights.

  2. Where conditions require, protective equipment will be issued to the employee.

  3. Could involve the handling of hazardous materials/hazardous waste either by the transportation of or the placement into containers.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  1. High school diploma, or equivalent, is required.

  2. Must meet Southwire Company General Hiring Standards.

  3. Minimum five years’ work experience in a purchasing role or similar.

  4. Must be familiar with computer systems (desk-top/laptop/main-frame) and able to use them effectively.

  5. Must be familiar with the following Microsoft applications: WordPerfect, Excel, and Power Point, and be able to use them effectively.
