The Engineer Supervisor will be responsible for general and specific assignments involving complex and extensive technical knowledge of equipment and operating problems on the transmission and distribution system. Specifically responsible for the safe daily operating plans and schedules for all Test Department employees and contractors. Employing extensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices and devising new approaches to problems encountered, such as relay commissioning, equipment testing and result analysis and recommendations. Duties require a complete knowledge of the technical operation of all electrical equipment on the system, ability to read and understand electrical prints and broad knowledge of principles and practices in related specialties in order to resolve a variety of highly complex problems. Duties also require extensive supervisory and technical skills including material acquisition, tracking maintenance plans in IPS, SAP & APM, project management, reacting to system abnormalities.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Supervision of all Test Department field personnel. Responsible for daily planning and work completion. Manages employee productivity and addresses performance issues.

  • Ensure employees are following safe work practices and standard operating procedures.

  • Responsible for the technical support on the operation of all equipment on the transmission and distribution system.

  • Responsible for managing all planned maintenance activities, as well as, unplanned solving and reactive maintenance work and response.

  • Tracking maintenance plans and follow-up work through IPS, APM, and SAP.

  • Solving complex problems on the transmission and distribution system through an in depth understanding of the equipment operation and technical design. Ability to read and understand wiring diagrams and schematic to perform solving.

  • Directs, coordinates, and performs technical investigations of equipment and operations, reviewing test results and making recommendations.

  • Advises the work of Technicians and contractors in the coordination and completion of substation project work.

  • Develop and maintain strong collaborations areas/departments to complete projects/maintenance, address issues, and make improvements,

  • Counsels with customers regarding voltage issues and concerns on the system and implements and tracks plans to address concerns.

  • Instructs and trains less senior or less experienced personnel on the technical aspects of their jobs, as assigned

  • Keeps informed on the latest developments and techniques pertaining to technical operation and protection of the transmission and distribution systems.

  • Serves as a professional representative of the Company, as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Four Year College Degree (or equivalent) in an Electrical Engineering Field

  • Seven to ten years experience

  • Supervisory expertise and Union experience.

  • Experience in project management with demonstrated ability to lead and work in a team environment
