In a global role, the Cybersecurity Operations Manager position directly supports all of the AES Strategic Business Units (SBU’s) cybersecurity operational requirements along with regulatory requirements within the individual SBU’s. The Cybersecurity Operations Manager is primarily responsible for providing leadership, as well as operational and tactical direction to diverse teams, including analysts, engineers and team leaders. The Cybersecurity Operations Manager leads the team through the cybersecurity program by establishing highly effective policies and appropriate collaboration among teams. The position also focuses on translating business requirements into cybersecurity processes and systems. The Cybersecurity Operations Manager conducts day-to-day administrative activity of cybersecurity operations to oversee business continuity, team engagements, priority tasking, and process oversight. This work demands initiative, creativity, leadership skills, and technical expertise.
The Cybersecurity Operations Manager will work in support of AES cybersecurity requirements and its company risk methodologies while ensuring that adequate and effective security processes and controls are implemented. The Cybersecurity Operations Manager serves as a key point of contact and technical cybersecurity expert within AES.
The selected candidate will work with collaborative teams to manage team members who analyze and support cybersecurity systems, infrastructure, and critical resources for AES. The Cybersecurity Operations Manager will analyze information and develop recommendations pertaining to AES and the energy sector in general. In addition, a strong working knowledge of information systems is required. The primary duties and responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
Supports automation and orchestration to maximize team talent and reduce routine tasks.
Actively recruits and leads by example to create a culture where employees want to work.
Analyzes technologies and establishes highly effective processes and protocols to ensure comprehensive protection exists to prevent unauthorized entry into the business networks and OT control systems.
Mentors security team personnel and places a heavy emphasis on employee retention – people, first.
Leads the team to implement secure enterprise protection systems and identifies issues that could compromise data integrity or security.
Develops IT security programs and recommends necessary changes to the information security team to ensure the company’s systems are fully compliant with all applicable regulatory requirements and privacy laws.
Facilitates third-party audit reviews of internal departments.
Provides periodic training to company employees on information security topics.
Participates in the company’s change management program.
Stays abreast of the security industry threat landscape, specifically within the company’s industry.

This position will require excellent problem solving and decision making skills, the ability to work with minimal supervision, and the ability to perform duties effectively under emergency situations. The candidate must possess a competency in the following security related areas:
Cybersecurity experience in data analysis, vulnerability management, threat intelligence, and forensics.
8+ years of technical hands-on Information Systems experience, with at least 3-5 years in a team lead or supervisor role.
Experience managing people, processes, projects and tasks in critical Operations Technology (OT) and Information Technology (IT) environments.
Demonstrates strong written and oral communication skills.
Demonstrates solid organizational skills and the ability to multi-task, prioritize workload and delegate responsibilities.
Effectively manages stress in a constantly changing environment.
Leverages subject matter expertise in security and compliance.
Demonstrates excellent judgment and the ability to make quick decisions and think outside the box when working with complex situations.
Demonstrates a high level of flexibility.
Is forward thinking and possesses business acumen.

An undergraduate degree or eight years of Information Technology experience may be substituted for a degree. Multi-lingual candidates are encouraged to apply. A graduate degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or another related field is preferred. Certification(s) in Information Security, CISSP, CISM, ISSEP, CISA or SANS and technical certifications in Cisco, Microsoft, CompTIA, Linux or Unix are desired.
Preferred: An ideal candidate would have 5+ years’ experience in the Energy or Utility industry, experience supporting a 24 x 7 real time operations environment, and experience supporting systems subject to regulatory compliance requirements.
