This is a hybrid position
Under general supervision, the Advanced Analytics & Modeling Engineer tracks and leads global benchmarking initiatives, tracks global EtaPRO utilization status, creates and maintains the Global Performance Monitoring and Analytics Center (PMAC) standard operating procedures and maintains global performance records and reports. Key focus areas for this role include monthly global heat rate reports, monthly management reporting, machine learning and other ad hoc analyses. The Advanced Analytics & Modeling Engineer will work closely with plant management, Global PMAC and Regional PMAC performance engineers, Operations, Commercial, and Financial Planning and Analysis teams.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in generation and management.
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, InstrumentationEngineering preferred) or equivalent experience.
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Experience supporting multiple projects simultaneously preferred.
High competency in MS Excel (data analytics and financial modeling) and proficiency in MS PowerPoint and Word.
Working knowledge of operations and familiarity with commercial/financial planning and analysis.
Working knowledge of advanced analytics.
Working knowledge of Advanced Pattern Recognition and thermal performance software or other reliability or condition based predictive diagnosis software applications.
Excellent analytical skills: Must possess good problem solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to work with large amounts of data, facts, and figures.
Communication Skills: Ability to present findings or translate the data into understandable documents. Write and speak clearly, easily communicating complex ideas.
Convey a high degree of professional competence in all forums and venues.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Support special projects by building operational / financial Excel models based on initiatives' needs
Track Asset Management improvement initiatives and resulting improvements in operational performance and financials
Develop technical assessments/analyses that will improve operational performance and reliability to meet operational targets or understand the deviations from it
Collects, processes, and analyzes data for plant performance metrics and assessment reports (e.g. monthly KPI reports, variable margin loss analysis, etc.)
Leads the global benchmarking initiative - produces quarterly global KPI benchmarking reports and ensures databases are updated in a timely manner
Development of well-organized, insightful reports, dashboards, and other forms of data visualizations to support strategic, tactical, and operational business decisions in SAS. Provides analysis in areas such as KPI performance against targets & goals.
Provides performance analysis or develops single regression models (EtaPRO / EtaPRO APR)
Support the development of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning models to improve failure prediction and continuous improvement.
Tracks and reports efficiency of generating units such as heat rate improvement (thermal) and average energy production (wind), plus equipment anomalies. Sustained/continuous oversight and coordination with maintenance and planning teams to address any performance degradation issues identified by the team.
