Job Summary
The Director of Business Operations is a strategic leader responsible for driving operational excellence, financial performance, and customer satisfaction across the organization. This role oversees the development and execution of business strategies that enhance efficiency, scalability, and profitability. The Director partners closely with executive leadership, Project Management, and Construction teams to align operational goals with broader organizational objectives.
Key responsibilities include leading enterprise-wide process improvements, overseeing financial operations such as billing, accounts receivable, and cash applications, and delivering actionable insights through advanced financial analysis and reporting. The Director also champions a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and accountability, ensuring that internal and external customer needs are met with agility and precision.
This position requires a visionary leader with a strong analytical mindset, exceptional communication skills, and a proven track record of managing high-performing teams in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
Strategic Financial Leadership
• Provide executive oversight of billing, accounts receivable, and cash application processes to ensure alignment with corporate financial goals, including working capital optimization and DSO targets.
• Partner with the CFO, Controller, Senior and Division VPs to develop and refine revenue forecasting models, cash flow projections, and financial performance strategies.
Program & Portfolio Management
• Lead the strategic planning and execution of complex, high-value programs across multiple teams and geographies, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and client expectations.
• Establish governance frameworks, performance benchmarks, and scalable processes to ensure consistent, on-time, and on-budget delivery of all projects.
• Oversee project portfolio health, resource allocation, and risk mitigation strategies in collaboration with Operations and PMO leadership.
Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement
• Drive enterprise-wide process improvement initiatives using data-driven insights to enhance operational efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service delivery.
• Champion a culture of innovation and continuous improvement by identifying systemic issues and implementing sustainable solutions across the project lifecycle.
Executive Communication & Stakeholder Engagement
• Serve as a key liaison between executive leadership, clients, and cross-functional teams, ensuring transparent communication and alignment on strategic initiatives.
• Lead executive-level meetings and client engagements, providing updates on performance metrics, risk assessments, and strategic recommendations.
• Foster a high-performance culture through mentorship, leadership development, and cross-functional collaboration.
Governance, Compliance & Reporting
• Oversee the development and implementation of standardized documentation, reporting protocols, and compliance frameworks to support operational transparency and audit readiness.
• Ensure timely and accurate reporting of financial and operational performance to executive stakeholders and board-level audiences.
Strategic Initiatives & Special Projects
• Lead high-impact strategic initiatives and transformation projects that drive business growth, operational scalability, and customer satisfaction.
• Provide executive sponsorship and oversight for cross-functional initiatives, ensuring alignment with long-term business objectives.
Skills & Competencies (Director Level)
• Proven ability to lead large, cross-functional teams and drive strategic initiatives across complex organizational structures.
• Strong financial acumen with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance management at the enterprise level.
• Expertise in project portfolio management, operational strategy, and process optimization.
• Executive-level communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Advanced proficiency in ERP systems, business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI, Qlik), and data analytics platforms.
• Demonstrated ability to influence at all levels of the organization and drive cultural and operational change.
Qualifications
Minimum
Education & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Engineering, or related field required; MBA or equivalent advanced degree strongly preferred.
• 8–12 years of progressive leadership experience in operations, finance, or project management, with at least 3–5 years in a senior management or director-level role.
• Extensive experience with enterprise systems (e.g., Viewpoint Vista, Qlik, Power BI) and advanced Excel modeling.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers, and scanners.
