Your Impact at SAM

The OSPE Manager is responsible for providing direction and oversight to the OSPE team in the design, engineering, and permitting of OSP engineering projects. The OSPE Manager will work closely with the existing management team to maintain the momentum and culture, including the mentoring and training of personnel, and the establishment of standards, processes, procedures, and quality control measures for the performance of OSPE services to the telecom industry. The OSPE manager will work closely with the team to ensure the compliance and timely delivery, on all OSPE projects, in such a manner as to provide the highest quality of services to SAM customers.

  • Provide direction and oversight of internal personnel in the design, engineering, and permitting of OSP engineering projects.

  • Provide leadership, mentoring, and training of internal OSPE personnel

  • Establish internal standards, processes, procedures and quality control measures for the OSPE team Assist with OSPE proposal creation and RFP response

  • Provide for Business Development of OSP engineering opportunities within the Telecom industry

  • Assist with budget and forecast planning

  • Provide daily direction and guidance on OSPE projects to ensure their timely completion

  • Utilize internal SAM tracking databases and project management tools to communicate status, manage projects, and provide detailed reporting

  • Ensure OSPE projects are in strict adherence to state and local codes and ordinances

  • Supports customer/client meetings as necessary

What You Bring to SAM

  • Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering or similar degree or equivalent experience is preferred

  • At least 8 years prior OSP Telecommunications design/engineering experience

  • Prior management experience of OSPE personnel including PMs and CADD drafters

  • Past experience designing and implementing commercial and carrier fiber networks, including; infrastructure, backbone and lateral builds

  • Past experience providing OSPE services to Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, and other carriers is highly preferred

  • Past experience working directly with utilities, jurisdictions, and governmental agencies

  • Strong working knowledge of engineering practices and procedures related to fiber/coax design and construction

  • Past experience managing and coordinating utility conflicts and relocations

  • Knowledge of (Micro station) Bentley, coax and fiber design software or other industry standard design software preferred

  • Previous experience using Auto Desk, AutoCAD design software

  • Strong leadership, communication and organization skills

  • Ability to work under aggressive project time-lines

  • Ability to work in a “Team” environment

  • Flexible to travel up to 25% of the time

  • Proficient in, Microsoft Office – Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
