Summary

As a Data Center Operations Sr. Manager at Oncor, you will be responsible for developing and implementing the appropriate procedures and tools to enable the efficient delivery of computing capabilities. This role will be responsible for implementing and managing deployment and management solutions within the Oncor Data Centers. This role will be responsible for all technologies in the Oncor Data Centers (Power, Racks, Cooling, Storage, and Compute Platforms). Additionally, this position is responsible for managing the development and adoption of these technologies by our supplier partners. Must have experience in Dev/Ops operational models and execution.

This position is a hybrid work environment with at least 3+ days in the office based at our Woodall Rodgers – Dallas, TX location.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

  • Lead the teams responsible for the delivery (both build and run) of the Data Center environments as well as the technical infrastructure for the Data Center environment.

  • Lead the management and maintenance of storage solutions (such as NetApp, Infinidat etc.) in an active environment.

  • Lead the continual development and maintenance of best practices for Data Center technologies in collaboration with Architects and third parties.

  • Collaborates with appropriate technical teams to maintain good operational limits on technology systems by providing appropriate data related to the physical Data Center.

  • Actively leads teams and collaborates with Tower leads, technical leads, individual contributors, and other leaders in the organization to effect delivery of technical systems.

  • Develops and maintains technical documents of systems and environment connectivity (Fiber paths, electrical, etc).

  • Ensures reliable Data Center Operational Standards are met or exceeded.

  • Prepares strategic plans and budgets for overall enhancements and investment to maintain operational readiness.

  • Manages costs within budgeted guidelines for the team(s).

  • Coaches, mentors, motivates and supervises new team leads, team members and contractors, and influences them to take positive action and accountability for assigned work.

  • Builds, implements, and participates in the strategy to attract, manage, and develop top workforce talent for the technology team.

  • Establishes and maintains relationships with various Oncor workgroups as well as internal and external stakeholders for risk/issue management.

  • Knowledge and experience with storage solutions and storage trends – including the ability to effectively manage and maintain such systems in an active environment.

  • Knowledge and Experience with large scale, virtualized computing platforms and the management systems (Red Hat, Nutanix, VM Ware).

  • Experience working in an Agile and Dev Ops environment is strongly encouraged to apply.

  • Automation, Orchestration, Development or DevOps background is desired.

  • Previous project/program management leadership experience with ability to lead in project management team environment; cross-functional experience desirable.

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent with 7+ years of experience in enterprise level IT with at least 5 of those years in technical infrastructure management for an enterprise with multiple Data Centers.

  • Applicants with a bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, mathematics, information systems or computer science are encouraged to apply with 6+ years of experience in enterprise level IT with at least 4 of those years in technical infrastructure management for an enterprise with multiple Data Centers.

  • Ability to become NERC CIP (North American Electric Reliability Corporation Critical Infrastructure Protection) certified is encouraged to apply.

  • Candidates with Technical Certifications are encouraged to apply.

  • Service Level Agreements and team metrics related to Data Center and environment management are met or exceeded.

  • Holds accountable the vendor delivery of services associated with Data Center per the vendor contract.

  • Demonstrates a desire and willingness to continually increase their own knowledge and develop/grow skills and abilities.

  • Successful leadership, influence, and maintained relationships with all stakeholders.

  • Exhibition of critical thinking, collaboration, and respect that leads to problem resolution and higher-quality delivery.

  • Ability to track, document, and communicate effectively on multiple programs and/or projects.

  • Support in development, training, and adherence to internal processes and procedures.
