Position Summary
As a Communications Representative at Oncor, you’re responsible for tactical development and execution of project specific communications initiatives with a heavy focus on internal communications that keeps employees informed and engaged. You’ll prepare a wide variety of written materials, coordinate with internal clients and communications teams ensuring collaboration, message consistency and clarity that aligns with Oncor’s goals. This position will cultivate relationships with appropriate members of the media, and monitor company social media channels to alert Communications Team Leadership if action is needed. The role includes taking the lead to independently develop initiatives to proactively generate positive public events and news opportunities for the company.
This position is a hybrid work environment with 3 days in-office based at our Woodall Rodgers – Dallas, TX location.
Key Responsibilities :
Acts as company’s internal roving reporter, to develop videos, take photos and write and copy edit articles for Oncor’s internal and external channels, including the intranet, digital signage and Oncor’s newsroom “The Wire.”
Coordinates outside vendors and internal resources for successful execution of public events and news media opportunities. Tracks results and measurements upon completion of projects.
Manages daily “Oncor in the News” email blast and fields internal communications requests from various Oncor departments, leadership and training organizations, Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) and more
Develops and executes programs to communicate the company’s position on a broad range of topics.
Develops internal network for information gathering and expert support.
Develops relationships with the working press or other external audiences to facilitate the flow of information to the company’s various audiences.
Serves as a company spokesperson and/or manager of information and coordinates interview of subject matter experts.
Develops ideas for proactive internal and external news, social media and/or public relations opportunities to successfully generate positive news placements or employee/public consumption.
Perform other duties as assigned when required.
Physical/Mental Demands and Working Conditions: This position requires the ability to perform the essential duties and responsibilities in the following environment:
Occasional long, irregular hours.
On call 24 hours.
Rotates responding to media after hours while also working days.
Use of a personal computer, computer terminal and/or telephone over 2 hours a day.
Skills :
Proven expertise in creating news-worthy articles and public event opportunities.
Knowledge of social media trends and business.
Strong communicator with demonstrated writing proficiency and familiarity with AP Style.
Superior project management skills.
Ability and comfort in meeting with senior managers and executives to discuss and plan company activities.
Flexible and nimble enough to respond to changing media and communications opportunities.
Education & Experience :
High School Diploma, GED or equivalent is required and 3+ years of media or public relations communications experience.
Will consider applicants with a degree in advertising, journalism, communications and 2+ years of media or public relations communications experience in lieu of above criteria.

Successfully, communicates company messages to our employees and, when needed, in media interviews on a wide variety of topics.
Becomes a trusted consultant for employees through detailed management of our intranet, performing upgrades and upkeep and creating new pages.
Creation of timely written content for external and internal sites.
Generate continued positive media coverage for the company.
