JOB SUMMARY:

Scope of Work - Main duties, settings, geography, reporting relationships, other relationships:

Provide health and safety program support, drive simplification of process and consistency across the US region in facilities and distributed operations. Manages the development, implementation, technical support, and ongoing management of the AVANGRID Health & Safety Management System (HSMS) and interrelated health and safety programs. Leads the related registration and HSMS auditing efforts of AVANGRID and its operating companies. This position ensures that the HSMS is implemented effectively within the business and owned by the business leadership.

MAJOR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Scope of work - range of responsibilities):

  1. Lead, support and facilitate implementation of the AVANGRID Health & Safety Management System and ISO 18001/45001 across the US businesses. Coordinate & manage external and internal H&S; audits, scheduling and planning, company tracks nonconformances, corrective action, and documentation in coordination with businesses.
  2. Drafts and maintains AVANGRID H&S; management system manual and integration of associated compliance. Leads management system periodic document review with preparation of records.
  3. Leads and facilitates H&S; management system audit program across the US business, preparing audit protocols and annual H&S; audit plan schedules, leading audit teams and periodically participating in business unitcompliance audits and inspections. Prepares management reports on the internal audit results.
  4. Plan and manage associated HSMS certification and H&S; auditing budgets in coordination with H&S; Shared Services.5. Drive continuous improvement and operational effectiveness of H&S; programs and procedures and tools to

required. Manages and

ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, effective utilization of best practices and enhanced productivity. 6. Vigorously lead/drive H&S; operationalization and accountability to all employees. 7. Support H&S; strategic planning efforts that pertain to company operations. Prepare quarterly H&S; governance committee reviews for the company. 8. Support AGR in establishing annual objectives and targets and plans with AGR and Iberdrola Corporate H&S; Staff. 9. Support HSMS training programs in coordination with H&S; Operations and Training staff; occasionally may perform training to support the HSMS program implementation. 10. Coordinate & support efficiencies with Environmental staff on EMS registration and audits, and overlapping EPA & OSHA programs. 11. Represent the organization and participate on various safety and industry associations or committees. Consult with external sources, colleagues and functional area experts to determine best practices and apply them in a cost effective manner.

Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education & Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety and health, engineering or related technical degree.

  • Minimum seven years’ experience in environmental, health & safety discipline.

  • Knowledge of energy industry and understanding of pertinent regulations & standards including OSHA, DOT, OHSAS 18001/ ISO 45001, OSHA VPP

  • Ability to draft and integrate an ISO H&S; management system into company operations that reduces risks and supports process efficiencies in a continuous improvement culture

  • Minimum of two years driving EHS initiatives in a matrixed organization

Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and advanced technical writing communication skills.

  • Technical knowledge and understanding of H&S; related laws and regulations

  • Ability to analyze organizational complexities and technical H&S; information to create appropriate integrated processes.

  • Strong leadership and influencing skills

  • Demonstrated ability managing multiple projects and priorities with on-time delivery

  • Ability to influence the operational SOPs design by identifying process efficiencies, and providing safety solutions to mitigate risk to acceptable levels.

  • Apply safety management system standards, precepts, principles, and process.

  • Must be capable of effectively communicating with all levels of employees within the company, as well as outside consultants/contractors.

  • Must possess problem-solving skills to arrive at practical solutions for a variety of safety and health issues, in alignment with company goals and objectives.

  • Must possess the mental and physical capabilities necessary to perform the job duties including frequent traveland job site visits.

  • Ability to operate in national multi-OpCo, multi-union, regulated/unregulated environment

  • Willingness to obtain further certifications and ongoing education.

  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate with industry professionals across the company.

  • Management System Certifications (OHSAS 18001 Lead Auditor required), additional ISO 14001/9001 certifications and professional H&S; certifications (CIH, CSP) preferred

  • Ability to travel domestically routinely, up to 50%, and occasional international travel for Global H&S; Assessments.
