NiSource Construction Specialist (Restoration) in Cranberry, Pennsylvania

This role supports theprocesses on capital projects of the Construction program to ensure compliance with standards and best practices. Responsibilities include collaborating with internal and external customers, ensuring accurate and appropriate payments, ensuring desired quality of work is obtained, and providing timely and accurate reports of the costs incurred.Essential Responsibilities

Collaborates with Operations/Construction schedulers, Operations Leaders, and Construction Leaders to ensure internal/external crew efficiencies are achieved.

Actively interacts with contract crew leaders to ensure contractor performance adheres to established metrics and policies/procedures.

Consults with Construction Coordinators to determine the best construction practices areemployed for the project.

Assists Construction Coordinators in the preparation of contractor daily progress reports (i.e. invoices).

Implements best practices while driving functional consistency, process standardization and operational excellence.

Assures activities and processes are implemented to ensure the safe, reliable and cost effective delivery of service to customers.

Promotes the necessary environment for effective internal customer satisfaction and collaboration.

Collaborates with peers to ensure that operating standards and construction practices comply with policies and procedures.

Promotes and assures safe working environment and public safety.

Assists construction supervisors in the management ofcustomer complaints.

Ensures timely and accurate invoice payments to contractor.

Effective use of technology, tools and planning techniques to improve process results.

Works across geographic boundaries whenever necessary.

Other duties as assigned.

Specific Position ResponsibilitiesRestoration

Track regional capital restoration costs for the Construction program.

Collaborate with internal and external customers on the final restoration scope, ensuring accurate and appropriate payments, ensuring the quality of work is obtained.

Provide timely and accurate reports or the cost incurred.

Ensure quality control by performing QA/QC site visits and coordinating annual core sampling process.

Specific tasks may include processing invoices, running Cognos reports, conduct site visits with multiple entities and update trackers.

Requires working knowledge using a computer, including applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and ability to learn computer applications in a timely manner.

Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret technical data.

Must be self-motivated and able to work with little direct supervision.

Ability to plan, prioritize and organize, including attention to detail to provide accurate reporting of assets and mapping of facilities.

Ability to communicate clearly in both writing and speech.

Collaborate across business unit boundaries (e.g., field operations, technical operations, asset accounting, and mapping).

Accurately interpret construction and engineering drawings.

Preparation of reports to track materials, contract cost, job order backlogs, restoration requirements.

Selection CriteriaRequired for Selection:

Minimum of 1-2 years underground utility construction (or related) experience.

Ability to interpret construction drawings and operations maps.

Knowledge of local, state, and federal operating codes.

Knowledge of policies, procedures, and standards pertaining to construction.

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Valid Drivers License.

Preferred for Selection:

Bachelors degree in engineering or business related field.

Working knowledge of operations support systems, i.e. WMS, etc.

Experience working with contractors.

Construction Inspection experience.

Operations Engineer/Engineering Technician experience.

Experience in estimating project costs and creating job orders.
