Become a Senior Utility Arborist at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this position, you will oversee all vegetation management activities performed by contractor crews within your assigned territory. The primary areas of focus are contractor and public safety, contractor adherence to all environmental policies and procedures, and ensuring all vegetation meets or exceeds current compliance standards.

A day in the life - Get ready to think big, work smart and shine bright!

  • Oversee contractor tree crews within an assigned territory.

  • Ensure compliance with multiple governmental agencies and SCE vegetation management program.

  • Participate in annual coordination with joint SCE/Fire agencies for line patrols.

  • Provide technical support to SCE contractors.

  • Perform QA/QC reviews of contract work.

  • Perform regional duty assignments on a rotating basis.

  • Respond to County, City and homeowner requests and inquiries.

  • Support district work order assignments.

  • Perform contractor field safety reviews.

  • Perform tree caused circuit interruption reviews for validation.

  • Support storm restoration and contract coordination activities.

  • Track and monitor contract progress operations.

Qualifications

The essentials

  • Five or more years of experience working in Vegetation Management.

  • Certification as an arborist with the International Society of Arboriculture.

  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License.

The preferred

  • Experience working in the utility industry.

  • Bachelor’s degree in forestry, arboriculture, business.

  • Knowledge of CPUC GO 95 Rule 35, PRC 4292 & 4293 and environmental habitat areas.

  • Experience performing tree risk assessments. (TRAQ)

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Power Point and Work Management Systems.

You should know

  • This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.

  • The location for this position is Compton/Dominguez Hills District. However, the successful candidates will be responsible for overseeing Vegetation Management contractors assigned to either the South Bay or Long Beach District(s) service territory. Area.

  • Position will require up to 100% traveling and being out in the field throughout the South Bay Area or the Long Beach Area.

  • This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position - Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation. Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining un-escorted access to assigned work location and performing necessary job duties.

  • Flexibility to respond to emergency response conditions in a timely manner (within 2 hours).
