Position Summary:

The OnSite Partners Engineer will be able to self-sufficiently support development, construction and asset management activities for behind-the-meter projects.

Principal Accountabilities:

  1. Development Activities
  • Create tools to analyze new technologies for market viability and equip Developers to communicate the value to the customer.

  • Estimate production and behind-the-meter benefits from various types of generation (e.g. solar, diesel/natural gas generators, wind turbines).

  • Review technology specifications to ensure project requirements are being met.

  • Negotiate contract language with 3rd party contractors to minimize the risk associated with technology selection, site design, construction, and O&M practices.

  1. Construction Activities
  • Support Project Managers with technical data requests.

  • Review project designs to ensure alignment with the contract, applicable standards and production estimations.

  • Review and approve project drawings, commissioning reports, performance testing data and punch lists.

  • Respond to requests for information sent by the contractor.

  1. Asset Management Activities
  • Support Asset Managers with technical data requests.

  • Analyze performance data to identify equipment deficiencies.

  • Work with O&M contractors to develop solutions for identified issues.

Minimum Requirements:

Engineer:

Has typically acquired 2 or more years of related engineering experience along with a Bachelor’s degree in engineering in a program accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET)*; Individuals with a Master’s or Doctorate degree in engineering may be considered for entry into the organization at this level.

*Acceptable alternatives are (1) a Bachelor’s degree in engineering (non-ABET), plus a Professional Engineers (PE) license in any state of the U.S. or (2) a Bachelor’s degree in engineering (non-ABET) plus a Master’s degree in engineering from a university with an ABET accredited Bachelor’s program.

Engineer Sr:

Has typically acquired 6 or more years of related engineering experience along with a Bachelor’s, Master’s or Doctorate degree in engineering in a program accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET)*; Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in any U.S. state is encouraged and preferred.

*Acceptable alternatives are (1) a Bachelor’s degree in engineering (non-ABET), plus a Professional Engineers (PE) license in any state of the U.S. or (2) a Bachelor’s degree in engineering (non-ABET) plus a Master’s degree in engineering from a university with an ABET accredited Bachelor’s program.

Requirements-Other:

Will consider the following engineering accredited Bachelor’s programs: BSEE, BSME, BSChem & BSCivil.

Preferred 5+ years of engineering experience in power generation, transmission or distribution.

Prefer experience working with a large range of technologies including solar, batteries, diesel/natural gas generators and capacitors.

Prefer experience analyzing and understanding utility tariffs.

Prefer experience with Excel programming.

Prefer and understanding about how technologies can create value for customers as a behind-the-meter asset.
