Director, Financial Analysis and Projects

We are looking to hire someone to work in our Columbus, Ohio office with a hybrid schedule (2 days/week in office)*

Job Summary

The Director, Financial Analysis & Projects manages a team focused on coordinating all finance functions to frame, analyze, and recommend paths forward on emerging enterprise-wide value creation opportunities and decisions. The Director guides the financial analysis of various material and emerging strategic projects related to the enterprise, such as proposed legislation/regulations, investment opportunities, key business decisions and implementation of new technologies or processes.

Essential Functions

  • Leads preparation of economic analysis to determine capital allocation, prioritization and other projects to assure financial targets are attained

  • Directs the preparation of comprehensive assessments and economic analyses of potential projects

  • Directs the development of team’s process excellence, especially prioritization, project plans and reviews

  • Publicizes and promotes capabilities and availability of financial analysis throughout the company

  • Assists Finance leaders in development of documents and presentations for use with NiSource senior leaders

  • Provides accurate and reliable financial forecasts and analyses

  • Accurately assesses the income statement, balance sheet and cash flow

  • Analyzes, develops and makes recommendations for financing requirements, including the amount, mix, duration and timing

  • Works closely with regulatory departments to analyze filing options, recommend action and coordinate supporting documentation to ensure strategies and outcomes which positively impact segment's financial results

  • Supports senior leaders with tracking progress against goals, preparation of board materials, and internal and external financial communications

  • Leads diverse team of qualified individuals with authority to hire, terminate, promote, demote, coach, develop and performance manage

Required Qualifications For Position

  • Bachelor's Degree Finance, Accounting or related field

  • 10+ years Experience in finance, accounting or related field

  • 4-6 years Experience in utility industry

  • Proficient financial analysis and modeling skills, including an understanding of and ability to calculate discounted cash flow, internal rate of return, economic value added, various financial ratios, earnings per share, and other significant metrics

  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles

  • Knowledge of advanced financial analysis techniques

  • Effectively manages and develops employees to build a motivated, performing team

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills at all levels of the organization

  • Is skilled at getting individuals, teams, and an entire organization to perform at a higher level and to embrace change; negotiates skillfully to achieve a fair outcome or promote common cause; communicates and executes on a compelling vision

  • Excellent leadership presence; can establish credibility quickly and possesses the ability to develop productive business relationships

Preferred Additional Qualifications for Position

  • Master's Degree MBA

  • 1-3 years Strategy/Consulting experience

  • 1-3 years Understanding of rate design and how it affects regulated utilities

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Upon Hire

Salary Range:

$150,900.00 - $226,300.00
