We are seeking a Mechanic Specialist at our Fountain Valley Authority Water Treatment Plant. This opportunity will offer you a rewarding career that is essential to maintaining the high-quality equipment and keeping the plant operational 24/7/365. Your expert mechanical knowledge will be utilized in a team environment to ensure that the current equipment is expertly maintained, and the preventative maintenance program remains successful.

Key Areas of Focus:

  • Help to maintain, calibrate, and operate a variety of equipment used to treat potable water

  • Conduct continuous preventative maintenance (PM’s) on plant and pump station equipment

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, repair or replace pumps, motors, valves, blowers, pipelines, and maintain chemical feed and mixing equipment; additionally a basic understanding of hydraulics

  • Perform facility maintenance, to include, electrical, heat ventilation, air conditioning, structural maintenance, and repairs

  • Operate water treatment plant on a rotational basis, this will include coordinated cross-training and familiarization of water treatment plant processes

  • Determine and adjust PM sequence intervals to maintain or lower costs and increase efficiencies

  • Troubleshoot and repair low voltage Motor Control Centers of up to 480 volts or below

  • Inspect, test, and prepare confined spaces for safe entry

  • Inspect, test and certify a variety of safety equipment

  • Rigging and lifting as needed for maintenance activities

  • Collect and interpret data from analytical equipment such as vibration analysis, oil analysis, and thermographs

  • Maintain records and prepare reports

  • Establish and maintain equipment using our work management system

  • Perform minor to medium welding tasks

  • Maintain and review blueprints

Who You Are: The ideal candidate will have completed three to five years of progressively responsible mechanical and electrical experience in a commercial, industrial, mechanical, plant maintenance and/or operations environment; water treatment or similar industry is preferred, but not required. A current State of Colorado “D” level Water Treatment Plant Operator certification or the ability and willingness to obtain this certification within one yearis required.

As you will be driving a Colorado Springs Utilities vehicle, you must have and maintain a valid Driver's License

This position requires the successful candidate to work standby and overtime as business needs dictate in providing 24/7/365 coverage for the plant and pumpstations.
