Who We Are: Colorado Springs Utilities is a community owned organization, fully and passionately immersed in our city; providing four services, Water, Wastewater, Gas and Electricity to our citizens of Colorado Springs.

We are looking for a Senior Human Resources Business Partner to join our dynamic business partner team! In this job, you will act as a trusted advisor and consultant and collaborate across the HR functions to deliver value added service to management and employees that reflect the business objectives of the organization.

You will serve as point of contact for senior leadership to implement HR solutions to business issues, strategies and initiatives, utilizing various information sources to determine action and understand potential future implications. You will oversee and assist with the day-to-day delivery of HR services and the resolution of issues in partnership with organizational customers.

Key Areas of Focus:

  • Monitor and assist with the interpretation and enforcement of HR policies and procedures

  • Advise and coach management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity

  • Provide day-to-day leadership and guidance to customers regarding employment issues including employee relations functions

  • Provide coaching and support to managers to facilitate the positive resolution of employee situations including performance improvement, disciplinary actions, terminations, appeal hearings and unemployment claims

  • Identify opportunities for improving service delivery methods and procedures; identifies resource needs, reviews with appropriate management staff, and recommends improvements

  • Analyze employment-related complaints and conduct investigations to include establishing scope, recording witness statements and generating detailed, comprehensive investigative findings reports.

Who you are: A candidate with a strong balance of analytical and problem-solving skills, business consulting and communication competencies as well as the ability to work in a dynamic team environment, and possess excellent influencing skills at all levels in the organization and competence in making timely, effective, principles-based decisions. Additionally, you must offer experience, ideally at least 6 years, serving as a trusted Human Resources advisor and strategic consultant. A bachelor’s degree (or greater) in Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration or a closely related field, and a SPHR or SHRM-SCP certification is preferred.
