Manager – Enterprise Infrastructure Services (EIS)

Colorado Springs Utilities is seeking a Manager of Enterprise Infrastructure Services to assist the General Manager and Senior IT leadership team to develop and sustain the strategic vision for Information Technology at Colorado Springs Utilities. This position directs and manages the operation of Network Infrastructure Services, Device Support Services, and Enterprise System Administration functions. As such, you will be responsible for data network planning; network availability; local and remote network hardware and software installments; network operations, Wide Area Network (WAN), Data Center operations, server/storage/backup design/implementation/operation, and the provisioning and maintenance of 6,000+ end-user devices as well as planning, budgeting and staffing of the Enterprise Infrastructure Services section of the IT Department.

Responsibilities include:

  • Manage IT Supervisors, Team Leads (Networks, Systems and End-user Devices), contractors, vendors, and technical professionals to ensure the effective delivery, maintenance and optimization of a hybrid on-premise/cloud environment

  • Participate in enterprise-wide conversations, initiatives and strategies

  • Develop and communicate strategic plans for IT, analyzing solutions, and developing business cases

  • Manage a complex, multi-million dollar capital and O&M budget with continuous purchasing requirements throughout the year that requires proactive management.

  • Focus on the development of the technical team to enhance both technical and management skills to increase their effectiveness and productivity.

  • Partner with the Enterprise Architect team and a virtual team of architects to create a Roadmap for EIS systems and technologies in collaboration with peer IT Managers.

As the Manager for the Enterprise Infrastructure Services, you will have:

  • Knowledge of and experience with LAN/WAN protocols; defining, migrating, and supporting cloud-based services; and managing teams of technical professionals responsible for the installation, configuration, testing, troubleshooting and maintaining hardware, server software, networks, routers, hubs, bridges, switches and networking protocols

  • Experience in developing and communicating strategic plans for IT, analyzing solutions, and developing business cases

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, written and oral, including the ability to make compelling presentations to teams of senior executives

  • Proven ability to manage contractors and vendors to design, implement and integrate complex technical systems

  • Project Management skills in both Traditional and Lean/Agile methodologies, specifically Kanban

  • Ability to craft and critique Requests for Information and Requests for Proposals for technical solutions.

  • Experience of project definition and scoping, formulation of feasibility studies and benefits cases

  • Self-motivated, strong results orientation, collaborative team player with functional thought leadership

  • Experience mentoring IT technical staff, project managers and support their development
